Well...i left it fairly late...but i had a little riff on the go...so i threw this punky/rockabilly number together...i was watching telly the other night flicking between "unforgiven" and "pulp fiction" so i thought i'd take the opportunity to vent some halloween spleen with the lyrics as well...i like a bit of a racket - so here we go...

I've just finished recording it tonight...so i'd appreciate any mixing thoughts/tips...thanks!

Thanks also to Paulski and Vicki for organising the competition  :)

Route 666

Killed every thing that walked or crawled
women and children first
and though I'm drowning in their blood
i can never quench this thirst
i'll mangle all your hopes and dreams
and crush the things you love
but absolute destruction
is never quite enough

You can bow your head and say your prayers
and that's all very well
but “deserve”s got nothing to do with it
I'll see you all in hell
you will know my name is vengeance
and my fury hath no end
if you make of me an enemy
death will be your friend

i’ll kill every one of you sons of bitches
and never pay it no mind
you’re too dumb to see me coming
or the horror I leave behind

i can only get my kicks on route 666

Damn right I love how blunt some of these lines are, gives it some real substance and you did justice to that with a powerful execution - must've been fun to do too.

You also somehow managed to keep a good variety and increase in intensity which is a credit given it starts off pretty heavy anyway.

Great guitar too, ticked all my boxes xD

So Paul,

The title is really clever and so are the lyrics.

The song has lots of energy and boy is this scary..

Has hints of Paint it Black..brilliant guitar playing

Love it.

The minor riff is brilliant Paul. There is so much energy, balls and attitude in this one. Even the stiffs would he up and dancing. Your lyrics are exceptional as ever but the number one thing that you have with all your songs is "feel" and nobody ain't gonna teach you how to get that  :) Great stuff  ;) Pompeyjazz / John

omg paul you sound like a total psychopath & your husky voice reinforces the serial killer lyrics!
I like that riff ...it reminded me of 1960s music like the yardbirds or somebody but youve  grafted it onto a terrific punk rockabilly rhythm..
you can almost feel this guy approaching with his mad eyes & ...i think im going to call the police just in case & tell them a complete psycho  has broken into my headphones & is chasing me around my head  ;D
its fabulous !....& a bit too real for comfort!  :)

Isnt that funny about the route 666 line?
I thought of it while writing my lyric & wondered surely its so obvious it mustve been used so many times before  so I googled it like you but it seemed no one had thought of it !
& then I find youve done exactly the same ...spooky or what? :)
Tell me Im wonderful & I ll be nice to you :)

Wow, now this is scary!!

Music, guitars, vocals, performance are all perfect for the lyrics. Threatening and evil and scary as Hell with a capital H.

Only thing I didn't like was this line:

you’re too dumb to see me coming

We have all these wonderful Hellbound words like crush and destruction and vengeance and fury and mangle, and we're killing everything that walked or crawled, women and children first... "Dumb" just feels a little lightweight in comparison.

But brilliant. I'd love to see this band live!!

yo Paul...I love this!

I thought you were gonna sound like Paint It Black when the riff started but then it went off into space. A great rocking song with psycho lyrics with the devil in the detail (no pun intended). I rocked along to this quite happily and then I hid under the bed. Great entry for the comp!

Intro made me think of Tinam playing 'Paint it Black'. Make of that what you will but please don't be offended, either of you 'cos that's not my intention.

Paul, I have to admit to being a fan but even if I wasn't the title of this one would have grabbed me anyway. Route 666! It's stunning. Lots of energy and aggression. Good lyric that made me want to know what comes next ... if that makes any sense?

Love it.

P.s. This is about teachers isn't it?

Thanks, everyone!

I probably wouldn't even be bothering to write stuff if it wasn't for the help, support and encouragement I find on this great forum...

I'll keep all your names off my hit-list  :P

Hi Paul,

Great energy.

The repeating riff works very well. Great guitar waork in general
The vocal is spot on. Made me think of The Clash at times
Love the bass groove and drums.

Another strong contender.
