I posted this in finished songs, but just noticed we're suppose to post summer comp. songs in this thread...
Hi guys...this is probably one of the first songs that I ever wrote, so I know it's not that strong a song and the recording isn't that good, but I thought it was a perfect song for this comp.
...it's a song about my childhood memories...every summer my aunt would take care of my brothers and I while my parents went to UBC to finish their teaching degrees ...our home was in the middle of a forest so we had a lot of fun playing outside...I'm very fawned of these memories
The word zunga refers to a rope swing...the word originated in my small town and is now in the dictionary...we had one in our back yard and played on it for hours
I'm afraid life kept getting in the way of finishing recording this song for the summer comp., so I'm squeaking it in, in the last minute
https://soundcloud.com/crystalsuzy/summer-magic-2Laying on the grass on a summer day watching clouds go bye
I see horses and dragons and buffalo roaming the sky
Laughter and giggling through lazy summer days
No worrying, no hurrying, just endless hours of play
Where did they go? Where did they go?
Life was magic when I was just a little girl
Imagination ou ticket to other worlds...hmmm
Everyday was a mew game of let's pretend
No past, no future, just the moment then
Where did they go? Where did they go?
I'm Huck Finn on the river again
With wagon trains and wild Indians
Flying through the air, on our zunga with ease'An underground fort hidden in the trees...hmmm...hmmm
Swimming all day until the sun goes down into the sea
Clue was next with Co., Mustard, the knife in the library
Homemade root-beer and freshly popped corn
My aunty, my cousins and their funky austin horn
Where did they go? Where did they go?
Sleeping outside in our backyard under summer skys
Gazing at stars and feeling high but very small...hmmm
Crickets and bullfrogs sing their nighttime songs
Drifting into dreamland, nothing could go wrong
Where did they go? Where did they go?
Snakes and frogs and polliwogs
Throwing sticks for the family dog
Running through the fields, and kick the can
And knock out ginger and away we ran
Life was magic back then...life was magic back then
:I want to live in the moment today
Watching clouds roll away:
Watching clouds, roll away...clouds roll away
