Soppy yes, but its a valentines competition so I think you've hit the nail on the head with this one - love the simplicity of it, i don't think it would work with lots of instrumentation, the strings at the end are just enough to lift it without overpowering. Lovely quality to the vocals

Delightful. Don't be apologetic about it. There's a place for edgy and there's definitely a place for this. Good voice too.

not realy my sort of thing & i liked the lyric most ......but definately well sung & well crafted as a song

i had a feeling there was a tiny timing issue with the high string at the end, starting just a bit to early relative to the guitar, or too abrupt (some more attack on the string there?)

and: a bridge / middle 8 could make the song more complete,i think

i know its sentimental but its lovely. you sing really well ..

this would be a number one in Ireland, no kidding,
and being London Irish and well acquainted with the misty eyed balladeering fellows, 
i enjoyed it..
not surprisd the missus isnt keen tho with you pining for the fjords so beautifully..

Lovely mellow love song.
If you can't be soppy for Valentine's Day then when can you be?
As for originality, it's almost impossible in a love song and familiarity is not always bad.
Great vocals, guitar and strings.
There's nothing I can suggest to improve it. It's just right the way it is.
