Re: Valentines Entry - Blue

yep the voice is very, very good - nothing generic and totally unique

production is great, crystal clear - songwriting is good too, not really the style I listen to but the song is very enchanting and mesmerising!

Re: Valentines Entry - Blue

I am so impressed - everything, the haunting words, they  grab you and mesmerise, the beautiful , delicate melody , the ephemeral arrangement - but above all the quality of the recording and your  vocals make this a song I would certainly  like  to hear a lot more of.

Thank you.

Re: Valentines Entry - Blue

I echo everything that has already been said.
Your voice and style are delicate, enchanting and unique.
You are very talented and there must be a gap in the market for your music.

Re: Valentines Entry - Blue

Just listening again for about the fifth time  Smiley This really is a gorgeous song. It's

way better than most of the "popular" music you hear these days. I played it to the missus,

and she thought it was ace.

And now to you Flossie!  Tongue Grin

I guess you are right. I am guilty of being short and to the point myself sometimes because I assume that

the writer will be happy to have some constructive feedback, forgetting that we musicians and somgwriters

all have lots of feelings... Which is why we are so creative Smiley

I don't mean to sound short or as if I don't like something... I'm just eager to point out things that could

help the writer.

I condsider myself told off  Wink

And you "Shackles of Ram" You should be ashamed of yourself  Grin

Actually just an after thought  Tongue

Rashackles in fairness is always very strict with every song on the forums, no matter how good they are. He's always very critical and straight to

the point and not very "warm" about every song he reviews. But I'm used to that just being Ramshackles. It's the way he does it.

I like it that people are different like that. He means well, trust me, he is a fountain of knowledge too  Grin

To get a review, give some reviews. Give and take. Simples. If that's too complicated........

Tongue
I didnt think my comment would generate such a slapback considering it's not my harshest by any means Tongue
Seriously though, I think my comment must have been misread or something as I never said it was a bad song or generic by any means (pretty sure I used the word original...). Seems the only person that took it for what it was Alice  Cheesy What I did was compare it to her other songs and IMO her other songs are better. In that respect, I know that she can improve. IMO her other songs are more textured, with more complex arrangements and more fully developed lyrics. You gotta put it in context though - comparing a good piece to great pieces. My goal is to try to make each new song as good as or better than the previous. That doesnt work a lot of the time (It's impossible to judge my own music) so I'm always looking for people to call me out. If you get a pat on the back no matter what you do...you turn into 1980's Paul Mccartney...

Apologies if it was a cold review...I still stand by it Tongue.
And if I'm too critical generally, apologies for that, I only really review stuff where I feel I can point something out or offer up something I might change. That generally means there is already something about it catching my attention.

There is soo much good stuff on this forum, I wouldnt have any time to record anything of my own if I was writing 'wonderful, well done' for every great song I hear...
There isnt even time to listen to all the great songs Tongue
Anyway, keep this thread for reviews and start a new one to slaughter me Tongue

Re: Valentines Entry - Blue

Really nice song, great vocal, I found it haunting (in a nice way, lol). I have listened to it a couple of times now & it is growing on me the  more I hear it. Really nice job.
