I think autotune shines a light on the differences between live and recorded music. Why wouldn't you want your recordings to sound as good as they can. That means not compromising on character or pitch. If its used properly it's invisible. Of course, in an ideal world we can all sing well enough to make it redundant, and it's certainly no substitute for learning to sing properly.
