Re: anyone know about wireless headphones ?

Hey Nooms Smiley

I have a pair of wireless headphones, but I prefer my good old wired ones. The simple reason being that the signal from the base unit isn't very strong, so you don't have to move very far to get mild interference. They definitely don't pick up passing taxis (that I'm aware of) although to be fair I can't remember the last time I saw a taxi pass my house. Joys of rural living Cheesy

Are wanting a pair for recording?

Re: anyone know about wireless headphones ?

I've used a pair of Sennheiser which are OK, the downside is that the money spent on the wireless technology isn't spent on the audio quality, so you get less audio "bang for buck".  I find them quite good for tracking (nice not to worry about the cable getting tangled in the guitar Cool.) but wouldn't use them for mixing.

Re: anyone know about wireless headphones ?

thanks tone/pescatore,

yes, i did want them to track with, i dont like mixing in cans anyway, ive got tinnitus from years of abuse, i played drums in an extreemly loud rock band for many years and one morning the ringing hadnt gone away...
trouble is everyone listens on headphones these days and the mix has to work on that scale as well as hi fi speakers, car systems and mostly as bollox MP3s, i hate them and everythings stacked up to the ceiling, its a bloody disgrace really..
rant over..
I'll try a pair for tracking and see what theyre like...
Im stuck between two mini cab firms...the streets going all night, i envy you Tone, the rural life..
Have you got a nice barn studio with moonlight coming thro the roof...?  if only...
Im really into a band called Giant Sand, wonderful americana band led by Howe Gelb who has his studio in an old garage in the arizona desert...perfect.
bet he doesnt need bloody headphones..
thanks fellahs, nooms

Re: anyone know about wireless headphones ?

Ha ha if only Nooms - I do live in the country, albeit right on the main road through the village. Not many cabs but a shed load of tractors and buses, not to mention the after-dark boy racers.

When I've made my fortune, I'll definitely find a nice rural barn and convert it into a studio. Maybe then I'll invite some of you lovely forum folk down to come and make a songwriter forum album Smiley

Now that is an idea!  Grin

It's funny my "studio" is basically on corner of our dining room. hahaha!
People are always impressed when you say you have one though  Tongue
I would love some proper good mixing speakers but because A: I'm in a small dining room and B: The corner I
am in is right next to our neighbours living room, I had to go for headphones.
There are serious limitations to mixing through cans though Sad aagghh.
Nothing is ever simples.

To get a review, give some reviews. Give and take. Simples. If that's too complicated........
