Always up for it, sounds like someone has to create some order here! As we did a (more or less) happy song last time in the Valentines competition I am thinking the theme should be "bare bones" but you can choose to do either:

- a song with a stripped down bare bones arrangement; OR
- a song featuring the words "bare bones" in your title or somewhere in the song...

Or both.

I reckon that should appeal to all (including the rockers, murderers, environmentalists, love-haters, carcass finger-pickers etc.)

It's the last day in May today so we should launch this tomorrow so we can get our entries done before we all go to the beach...

What say you?

Umm .....so all ive got to do is write a normal song & put the words bare bones in it somewhere?... that doesnt sound very challenging 
so bare bones recordings ...what does that mean exactly?  I dont do vocal & acoustic guitar....i dont even own  one ...bare bones for me would mean a stripped down electric  song  with  a sparse arrangement
will that fit the bill?  it wont be what some people would call bare bones

I think the criteria was one instrument and one voice so you can happily use your electric. Distort the vocals and you're away. I agree about using the lyrics though, it does make it a tad easy.

so does that mean only 2 things at the same time?... so I can have voice & guitar.. then bass & drums.. then 2 guitars & back to the beginning again?
I dont want to do it & then be disqualified

Sorry just seen this thread, my suggestion is to not be too prescriptive. Bare bones is ok as a songwriting challenge, I'd not be narrow about how we respond. So don't force the use of words or musical response, let our creative juices run free. Encourage Collins and beauty will be in the ears of the listener...

I have a feeling if you take your best guess at the guidelines, write your song, put it in Finished songs, put a link to it in this thread and say it's your song for the challenge, it will be close enough.
