OK - I finally heard this on the Academy Awards (or the "black artists don't get nominated" awards)
I thought the melody line was pretty good as were the chord progs (based on one listen) and Sam Smith did his best BUT.. it's not written to be sung by a human IMO. He had to sing half the thing in this weak falsetto voice like he was inhaling helium every 30 secs. Or maybe that's what Sam Smith sounds like - I'm not a follower. Hope the movie version was better than that..
