Can anyone recommend a good synth for all types of music? I would run it through my BR 900

That kinda depends man, Are you looking for a solid-state synth or a midi controller to use the patches inside of your DAW?  (Even with programs like GarageBand and Cakewalk, they have great patches that can be run via midi controller into ur BR900)  Other than that... it's a matter of how much you want to spend.  Roland and Korg make AMAZING synths but you could easily get an inexpensive Casio or Yamaha to get the job done!
