I always seem to have one-word titles...

Anyway, again I have a song written from a concept and want to know what people think of the lyrics...

Halfway

I was there on the day
We turned back the other way
And the boys in the planes flew home
I was there when the skies burned
And we all looked up and learned
That some of our nightmares had become real

I was there when the mind became more dangerous than the hand
Though some of us still threw punches
I was there when it ended
And a better thing began
But if I'm honest I was scared

But when I think I've seen it all
You show me something new
I've seen the end and the start
But I haven't seen all of you
I'm not even half way through
So turn the page

Well I ran through the fire
While the reaper was hiring
Because he couldn't keep up anymore
And in a land far away
They were storming the bay
And they told us that this was the end

Or at least the beginning of it
And the promises
Were either better or worse than the truth
But either they were still wrong

(Chorus)

We're all just fighters
And I'm too damn good at being wrong
We're all just fighters
Who write another war song
And I'm too damn good at being wrong

(Chorus)

Well I stood with held breath
When the monuments of death
Were put up in central square
They said 'lest we forget'
But how much did they mean it?
Because the statues weren't friends of theirs

(Chorus)
I'm not even half way through
So turn the page
