Hi guys

Wrote this one for the grandkids  :) :).
I'm hoping to do an animation but meanwhile getting the song ready.
It's a bit trippy in places with 5/4 time in the chorus.
I know the drums need work, rolls etc but anything else not working?

Thanks  :)!

knock out fun track paul which i reckon could have a future,, great tempo
loved it .. top lyrics as always.. humour and enthusiasm in the voice and performance..

think you could maybe add an extra harmony on the very last vocal part @ 1.51 for that added showtime emphasis..
very catchy and tv theme like, all you needs a tv program called smiley face..
terrific mate great stuff
i may not believe this tomorrow...

Paul this is brilliant! Lol

It's TV gold for someone out there.

Well done.

I know you probably love the odd time bars but it could be even catchier in 4/4 throughout.

Great little song.

A bit of a BNL vibe in there I'd say (must be something in the Canadian water).
I always find key signature shifts a bit unsettling but definitely attention grabbing.
My kids would sing this... (in fact I may force them to)

Hi Paul, this is a really fun song to me, well done! Great lyrics, nice melody and sung really with passion! The 5/4 measure in the choruses work for me, but I think I'd prefer 4/4 in the choruses as well. But man, really had fun listening to this one, thanks for sharing! MM

@nooms

Hey nooms - thanks for the kind words! Esp on the vocals - "sing like there's nobody listening" - that's my motto  :). Good advice on that last break - I'll def add some more harmonies there.

@Alan

Thanks for the listen and nice comments. I tried it in straight 4/4 but it was too rapid-fire lyrically at this tempo, so it was either make it quirky or slow it down  :) and my friend here said quirky  :) was the way to go..

@adamfarr

Well BNL is one of my least favourite bands, but I guess we do drink the same water at times  ;D
Thx for commenting. I hope your kids will like the video.

@frances

Cheers fran - glad you liked it

@MartiMedia

Thanks for that - usually when I post odd time signature stuff I get mixed reviews - maybe some of the musicians are trying to play along?  ;D That's a challenge for me and I wrote it  :)

Great novelty song.  Seems like an animation would be a natural. Look forward to seeing it.

Cheers for saying that. I posted a new mix which is a bit more complete - added drum rolls and some piano frills. Not 100% yet though.

Lol! That was a great listen indeed!
However cool I suggest leaving the 5/4 to the guys in Rush.
Can't wait to see the video

Hi JB - nah - you're just conditioned to want 4/4 - set yourself free man!
Anyway, rush live down the street from me and they liked it at 5/4 ;D
Thanks for listening!

What is not to like about this one! It gave me a smiley face for sure! Text book use of harmonies. Groovy bass line going on in here and it sits perfectly in the mix to drive it on. That is some neat honky tonk style piano playing too. Everything about it just screams fun and energy and vibrance and it all comes together brilliantly. Could easily imagine this n a kids TV show.

Hey

What a fun track!  Definite kids TV gold, they would be singing that and driving their parents mad!

I'm not sure about the 5/4 in the chorus, throws you off somewhat in such a simple fun song, I think simplicity is what the track cries out for!

Great fun and really well produced!

Wonderful! Writing good, fun songs for children is much more difficult than it looks, and you really seem to have pulled it off.

I don't have a problem with the 5/4. I think it could work well, but you do need to take a better look at the drums in that section.

I also feel that you're straining your voice somewhat on the higher notes in some sections.

But a brilliant, fun song. It really made my day.
