Not sure what you mean there postmn - do you have an audio interface to allow the computer to 'hear' your mic?
What mic is it? What computer do you have, and what operating system? Have you configured your audio software to pick up the mic signal?
Give us more info and we may be able to help

Yes. Its not a audacity - there is no such thing as a mic being compatible with one software and not another. Its not connected or configured properly. What type of mic is it, how is it connected, whats your soundcard?

Ok. How is it connected to your computer? Internal/ external sound card? How do you have your audio software set up? Have you tried playing around with the input settings?

What interface are you using? Not DAW, but interface... If it has an XLR connection and ur connected to your interface or mixer and you're having trouble getting your interface or mixer to run on Audacity... that's one thing but the cables could be shot too. Make sure that you're Firewire and/or USB settings are correct within Audacity as well.
