Hi everyone

Just wanted to ask a question really following on from a comment made by Skogge on another thread in the Writing Process forum...

I'm working on a minimal electronic record of about 4 songs, and I want to give the final mixes a dirty, gritty finish - it was mentioned experimenting with cassette tape recording but this isn't something I've done before.  I do have a Slate Digital virtual tape machine plug in which adds a nice gloss to a mix, but I want them to sound like they're older than they actually are.

Any ideas/suggestions?  I use Pro Tools 11 and there are some cool Lo-Fi plugins where you can add saturation and noise digitally...  I'm wondering if there's a more creative way to achieve a more realistic and genuine sound.

An example would be found here;
