This song was written at the usual time of day (about 3 am) and ended up going from a song about teen decadence to a song about hard drugs (I can't say I've experienced the latter...) and was wanting some opinions (I'm aware it is long, that was in a way the point of this song)
Like Criminals
This is how it begins
We're runaways
Like we always kinda hoped we'd become
Riding hurricanes
'Cause they're the fastest way out of here
Fighting everything
Finding ways to sing
The songs that tell the world we've got nothing to lose
Our great escape
A way to make our lives seem better
Reanimate
The things in us that crave fantasy
Trying anything
Blind stuttering
We'll take the results of whatever we choose
Tell me a story of insanity
I want nothing more than you
Don't take me to the hospital
Alone you can make me brand new
Curtain up act II
On a different stage
And somehow the crowd didn't notice
On a different page
But somehow it's already been filled
The words are ours
With little sketches of stars
Because you were always a dreamer
Don't close the day
'Cause we can make it last till tomorrow
Cry in this place
And it makes you happy like you've never been
We're like criminals
And I'm the winter to her Christmas day
Woah we're no better than the con men
We're drowning in the sewage of youth
We're like criminals
And health is measured in abuse
Tell me a story of insanity
I want nothing more than you
Don't take me to the hospital
Alone you can make me brand new
Hold me close and let me overdose
I'll never fall down
Hold me close and let me overdose
Hold me close and let me overdose
I'll never fall down
Hold my hand and let me runaway
Roll the dice again
And pray it's the winner we need
Fireflies will play
Right up above our deep red double bed
Replaying
Like we're changing
And want to hold on to the things we know from before
(Chorus)
Hold me close and let me overdose
I'll never fall down
Hold me close and let me overdose
Hold me close and watch me comatose
Till I come back out
Hold me close and let me smile
We're like criminals
