 HEY GUYS

this is about some one suffering depression deeply
the loss of love and sinking into despair
this is very dark hope it comes across in feeling

               THANK YOU THERESA

                   CALLING
                ------ = ------

 lost in the darkness
 I'm cold and alone
 in the deepest hole
 and I can't get home

 the voices I'm hearing
 I don't recognise
 these negative feelings
 I'm being tortured by lies

 can you hear me calling
 can you hear me calling
 help me I'm falling
 can you hear me calling

 one drink then another
 smoke after smoke
 sleep then wake shaking
 on self pity I choked

 can you hear me calling
 can you hear me calling
 help me I'm falling
 can you hear me calling

 why won't the sun shine
 warm on my cold heart
lift me from rain spattered mud
 how do I start again

 can you hear me calling
 can you hear me calling
 can you hear me calling
 can you hear me calling
 help me I'm falling
 can you hear me calling

 so I carry this spade
 it's time to be brave
 work it out and live
or I dig my own grave

I like this song. Very sad and heart-wrenching. The lyrics are good, but perhaps a bit 'generic'? They seem very familiar, is what I'm getting at. I really like the buildup of the song - the overdub(s) sound(s) great! I feel that this track would also benefit from a bigger soundscape, with more instruments, so that it could build up even more as the song progresses.

I like this one. Neat piano. Gives a very good dark eerie feel. Sounds like a film score or similar. I love the chorus. Melodically it packs a punch with a very good vocal that gets the hairs on your neck standing. However at times I felt the verses were a little too melodic if that makes any sense - I felt the notes seemed a little elongated at times in order to give a semblance of power ballad melody whereas just letting the melody end a little more naturally might have gelled the song better. Overall though it was a nice listen even in this basic demo form.

Hi Tony

Great moody piece this.
Nice chord progressions, harmonies and of course, lyrics!
Lead vocal is super.
Production-wise thought it (the vocal) could use more reverb and a cello would have been nice starting half way through.

Good work!

Hi Tony, love the chord progression and the piano playing is good.Nice vocal too.i think it would benefit from some other instruments joining to build the atmosphere (which is already there, but could be bigger)!
Nice one!
Cheers

Hi Benjo/Theresa,

Reminded me of a band i think i've mentioned before - Within Temptation - similar feel to the song "Forgiven," which i think is a stunning song, so as you can imagine i liked your song.

Nice haunting quality to the music and vocal. Sounded like it was clipping a bit in places - or my speakers are on the blink (quite possible.) The vocal seemed a little shaky in places - may be it was a lack of familiarity, or indeed, could be part of the delivery the singer was after - that broken hearted feel. Anyway, for the most part it was very good and captured the mood of the song.

I'd love to hear it with a bit more polish production wise - but not too much.

Like digger I hear the 'Within Temptation' thing too. I love the fragile Gothic delivery. For me the song has two versions, there's the beautiful unplugged number I just listened to,or the full band and strings version.

Like all good songs it'll work either way. Much enjoyed.

Hi Benjo/Theresa

Lovely, fragile vocal which suits this song perfectly and the piano is spot as well. I agree with others that this needs more reverb on the vocal and it's crying out for a cello. That would transform this. At the moment, it's a bit stark. Lyrics are solid and melodically it's quite subtle and takes a while to settle on the brain.

A good, solid effort.

The atmosphere of the music and the lyric make a nice match.

The verse melody is good and the chorus works well too. I like the 'help me I'm falling' breaking up the 'can you hear me calling' lines though I think the last 'can you hear etc' should resolve...maybe not the first time...but before the bridge it should I think.

Some instrumental breaks too would be nice to break the song up a bit. Yes, and some added instrumentation as the song progresses.

A sympathetic arrangement would do wonders here, I think, to what has the potential to be a very effective song.

Nice vocal and, as I said, a good musical interpretation of your lyric Tony.
Take it easy.

Moodily moving minor tonalities perfectly express reflective melancholies and dignified depression. The music perfectly supports the greater poetical idea, as I'm swept away by the lyrical images and descriptions, barely noticing the sounds as I'm engrossed in my own sad reminisces and relate them sympathetically to the message of this song.
Tenderly sensitive, earnestly passionate, poignantly beautiful, a classy production and vitally valid articulation of such situations that we all live through.

Nice collab guys.

Well written lyrics that exude despair and in the last verse despair and a slive of hope all at the same time.

Wonderful piano all the way through and the chorus was stellar. I did feel though that the verses dragged a bit, I think all the long held notes caused this. Just my two cents worth. But still, a really moving song packed full of feeling.

Very enjoyable listen. I think it needs a sprinkling of magic dust which could be achieved through the balance of voice and piano, eq, and effects. Still, it's very beautiful and there is great scope to lift this song further with more instrumentation.

Well done
