Hi all,

Just as the title says really just wondered if anyone had ever approached an artist or management with a song you've written and if you had any success?

As always any experience/guidance would be much appreciated.

I've never really tried this approach but then again I'm only a lyricist.Someone I co-write with has advocated this approach to me. It worked for them as they've had a few cuts with established names and they also look for up and coming artists with label interest and then target their management. It must work as not only did the co-writer in question get cuts they've also had firm label interest in them as a writer and producer - and I'm not talking independent label but one of the 'big boys'.

IMHO I say go for it. The worst you get is a 'no' and best case scenario it might spark interest in you as writer for that artist and lead to a cut without having to pay the publisher cut of £$ of course. Also if they say no you can always still shop it around to publishers.
