                            You made my soul climb.

                  When those natural disasters
                  Of the personal kind
Catch up with the good times
                  And leave them behind
You said, it don't pay to dwell
                  Or think about
                  All those clouds
That make the stars go out

                      You made my soul climb
                      You made my soul climb
                      Made it climb
                      When i was down
                      In the valley so low

When the cards were against me
                 Kings and aces combined
You fell down on my table
                 Like four of a kind
                 When my vineyard grew sour
When the grapes turned to lime
You nourished the roots with honey
                 And sweetened the vine

                     You made my soul climb
                     You made my soul climb
                     Made it climb
                     When i was down
                     In the valley so low

I was going nowhere before you
                A letter without an address
Where would my soul be without you
Down in the valley i guess

                When my countenance darkened
                When the brightness grew faint
And i turned to the clowns
For the use of their paint
And though i smiled at the people
                In my oversized shoes
                My heart was an orphan
In the home of the blues

But you made my soul climb
                     You made my soul climb
                     Made it climb
                     When i was down
                     In the valley so low.

Loved the lyric.  I didn't even speculate on what kind of music you'll come up with.  You always surprise me in a good way.

But it sang easily.  I didn't find a real dramatic vocal melody for it, but that's as much about knowing that you will find one and not trying that hard.

Hi vintage
No, more than a hymn - I'm hearing gospel in this one.
Now, if I were a religious man I'd be raising my hands in the air for that rousing chorus  ;D
And that clown verse is just dripping with pathos!
Another fine write!
