                          Every day a symphony.

The score was written on stems of green
             In notes of glistening dew
And opened with a chorus of birds
And a fanfare of light bursting through
The wind took hold, of a wheatfield of gold
That with baton like movements did sway
Conducting the highs, conducting the lows
Conducting the dawn of the day

             Every day a symphony
             Every moment a wondrous tune
From the rising of the Adagio sun
To the fall of the Bel canto moon

Bass and drums meet, in a thundercloud beat
And the powerchord lightning bolts flash
From the swirling seas motion, comes the sound of an organ
             And watery cymbals that clash
And the spidery accoustic strings of the wood
Are strummed by the touch of a breeze
Waking the bells, that sleep in the dells
             And shaking the tambourine trees

             Every day a symphony
             Every moment a wondrous tune
From the rising of the Adagio sun
To the fall of the Bel canto moon

The mountains sing high, the valleys sing low
             And share the glockenspiel streams
The flowers emerge, and fill up the air
With the scent of sweet violins
So open your eyes, and open your ears
Join the starlings and flock to the gig
And meet me on that that bridge in the sky
Where the sun and the rain dance a jig

             Every day a symphony
             Every day a wondrous tune
From the rising of the Adagio sun
To the fall of the Bel canto moon.

Thanks for listening, this could have been a whole lot longer, but i cut some verses, to keep you from falling asleep. Thanks to Bob dylan, and that great song of his, that was an inspiration for this.

This is just beautiful  ;D

I wouldn't care if it never had any music attached to it, I could sit and read it time and again just as a wonderful piece of prose.

There isn't a single thing I'd change because to do so would suggest I could do better and quite frankly I couldn't.

Your words are lovely. Thankyou for sharing them. :)

Would you be able to tell us which song inspired you?

It was really spooky last night because I was looking through some papers and found a poem I wrote and was going to set to music. Then you posted yours and the theme is the same about a symphony although mine is only 4 verses.

I will post it next.

Marrianna  :)

I loved this because it's a great poem.  Music will determine if it's a great lyric.

I also loved it because (like Marrianna) I've written a piece similar in it's concept.

It's called "Stones Serenade" named for (and based upon) a great instrumental by a great guitarist named Trace Bundy in Colorado.

Like Marrianna, I'll probably post those lyrics in the next few days.

Hi Vintage,

I loved the idea of nature as music and finding Mother Nature to be a beautiful creature.

Another good write as usual. I liked it all.

I shall listen out for these things in future to see if i can hear a tune.

Nice one,

Phil.
I don't know what i'm doing but i do it anyway.

Hi Vintage

I agree with that second guy "This is just beautiful". Oh wait that was you in that second post  ;D ;D
Seriously though a superb lyric - I'll call it that because of the structure c/w chorus!

Even pulling out my nit-pickiest skills I can't nit-pick this - well done!

Beautiful imagery. I will look forward to hearing this set to music.  At times this loses it's rhythm. An example would be lines 3 and four, which do not deliver what I was expecting. Your first two lines are beautifully written and therefore I expect to hear a continuation of the established rhythm e.g "opened with the song of birds as light came bursting through". Of course, you could write something more eloquent with a little thought - that's simply off the top of my head to demonstrate how I would have kept the rhythm more rigid. That approach will ensure it's much easier to set to music.

Hope you don't mind my observation. There is much to like here - this could become quite stunning with the correct production!

Thanks for sharing

Paul

Thanks all, for the warmth of your feedback. This gave more headaches than anything i ever wrote. Still not satisfied, i posted in drunken haste. But it was doing my head in, and i wanted it finalised. I think the conclusion could have been stronger, and i may rewrite the final four lines. But it is what it is.
