                                   Whole lot of trouble.

Scraping the barrel, scraping the plate,
"Abandon Hope" on the factory gate,
They took my job and they shipped it overseas.
Looked for another, couldn't find none,
                 Winters here, the summers gone,
Seems like the whole damn town is on it's knees.

And it's a whole lot of trouble, that's come this way.

Pawned my watch, pawned my rings,
Wish i was a bird, wish i had wings,
They can fly south when the going here gets tough.
But i got a family, so i gotta stay,
Got one kid, and another on the way,
We get relief, but it don't go far enough.

And it's a whole lot of trouble, that's come this way.

Got mixed up in a dodgy deal,
But a desperate man, will beg or steal,
To keep the dogs and the ravenous wolves at bay.
Cops are sniffing, they're hot on the trail,
If it leads em here, it could end in jail,
Expecting a bang on the door now anyday.

And it's a whole lot of trouble, that's come this way.

                 Laughing charlie, took it hard,
He lost it all, when they closed the yard,
We all tried to help, but no one could.
He left his smile in the photo booth,
He left his troubles, on the car park roof,
And jumped into a pool of his own blood.

And it's a whole lot of trouble, that's come this way.

One by one, the candidates come,
                 Expensive suits, real handsome,
Smiling and kissing the babies as they pass.
But handsome is, as handsome does,
They've never done jack shit for us,
If they want this baby's vote, they can kiss my ass.

And it's a whole lot of trouble, that's come this way.

Vintage,
Great gritty write, ;oved the opening lines of first verse but its all up to your high standards.
My only thought is your might want to amend the chorus lines. So for chorus 1-3  say "that's coming my way". 4 would be "that came his way" and 5 is "that's coming their way"
Anyway enjoyed it a lot.

I agree 100% with this. It really is details like that that turn a good song into a great song.
You got game son.

Hi Vintage,

This is really good description of the modern world of globalism and 'outsourcing'. This kind of scenario is going on all over the western world.

Loved the 'left his smile in the photo booth' line  and 'if they want this baby's vote they can kiss my ass'!

That's not to say i didn't like the rest of it too!

Good 'un.

Phil.
I don't know what i'm doing but i do it anyway.

Once again, thanks for all the replies. I'm almost happy with this, but not entirely. Think it could have been better. It gave me a whole lot of trouble to put down. But i lost it somewhere along the way, and decided to let it be, and move to pastures new. Appreciate the comments though, drinks are on me, if you can track me down.

It's kinda International in a way, it reflects the lives and feelings of people all over the world. That's hard to do but you really nailed it. As I've said elsewhere, I don't patronize people or heap false praise on them. Good is good, and this is good.
