I've done my time in bedlam been back and forth
i was born in a hovel and made in the north
yes insanity i've gave it a try
i was made in the north under a northern sky
done my time in bedlam been back and forth
i was born in a hovel and made in the north
mark my words that's not a lie
i was made in the north and in the north i will die

i went for a walk and i lost my mind
i lost my mind,i lost my mind
i ended up in bedlam they were all my kind
all my kind,yeah my kind

i went for a walk i hockled in the gutter
i'll bet you any money if you wanna have a flutter
my mother's got a stutter she can't pronounce butter
i went for a walk and i turned into a nutter

i went for a walk and i lost my mind
i lost my mind,i lost my mind
i ended up in bedlam they were all my kind
all my kind,yeah my kind

a little spell in cherry never done me no harm
i found it kinda funny on the funny farm
i went for a walk just to clear my brain
i went for a walk and ended up insane
yeah a spell in cherry never done me no harm
i found it kinda funny on the funny farm
in the tambo river there's a tambourine
i was made in the north you know what i mean

i've done my time in bedlam been back and forth
i was born in a hovel and made in the north
yes insanity i've gave it a try
i was made in the north under a northern sky
done my time in bedlam been back and forth
i was born in a hovel and made in the north
mark my words that aint a lie
i was made in the north and in the north i will die.

Hey Tom,
Am I wrong or is that a song about an American slave making it to the north? If it is then I think it sort of made sense. If it isn't, it still makes sense as it shows the story of a man going insane(?)
The first verse was rather confusing to me. The chorus came in and I was still confused but it made more sense as I went on.
The second verse has gotten me smiling and it fit in with the man going nuts, though for a second I was like, "Is this a rap song?"
The third verse reinforced to me the thought that this was about a man that is totally out of his mind and followed the theme.
I really enjoyed reading your lyrics Tom.

Hi Tom,

Another catchy one in your inimitable style. An anthem for the north.

I have to admit i didn't know what 'hockled' or 'in cherry' meant!

Nice one,

Phil.
I don't know what i'm doing but i do it anyway.

Hello tracyl and phil,
it's a personal one and there's a helluva lot of
truth in it,"hockled",i know it's crude but it means spat in the gutter,
"Cherry knowle",it's a mental hospital up my kneck of the woods,
                                                                                         thanks,tom.

     Tom, Hello!
Your'e quite an individual. Always interesting, always rhythmic. You say theres truth behind this, and If it's personal, sounds like you've been down some crazy rivers. Don't know what to say really, captivated and mystified at the same time. Like a drink with you someday, you sound like my kind of company. Here's to you!
