                                 The calling of the wind.

I know i'm moving on for selfish reasons
Forgive me, but the road is outward bound
My surroundings have to change, just like the seasons
While your'e content now, with the ones you've found

And even though, I'll no longer taste those kisses
The love i have for you will still remain
But if i was to stay against my wishes
That sweet love would be no more than a chain

I need to feel the wide open spaces
Not a bunch of door keys hanging on a ring
You say it's time to stall, to hang your coat up in the hall
But i still hear the calling of the wind

It doesn't seem that long ago our stars collided
Two gypsies, on the way to who knows where
The past let go, the future undecided
Whistling like the wind without a care

But lately, i sensed a change in your direction
As if you heard the call, of a different kind
And i guess i always knew just what was coming
Before your voice unloaded, what was on your mind

I need to feel the wide open spaces
Not a bunch of door keys hanging on a ring
You say it's time to stall, to hang your coat up in the hall
But i still hear the calling of the wind

Iv'e tried my best to make you buy a ticket
You've done your best to try and make me stay
But after all the pulling of the heartstrings
Looks like we've met the parting of the way

I won't bid goodbye, when it comes to leaving
I still fear the blue persuasion of your eyes
I'll wait until their tired lids have fallen
And slip away, before the rooster cries

I need to feel the wide open spaces
Not a bunch of door keys hanging on a ring
You say it's time to stall, to hang your coat up in the hall
But i still hear the calling of the wind.

Hey Vintage54

Whatcha know -  a chorus!
And a mighty fine one to be sure.
As Verlon (hardtwist) often says - it sings in my head right away.
Love some of those turns of phrase like:

Quote
That sweet love would be no more than a chain

and

Quote
But after all the pulling of the heartstrings

and

Quote
I still fear the blue persuasion of your eyes

to name just a few. Excellent work once again!
Paul

It reads really well.

It sings even better.

Marvelous word pictures.

I did wonder if you meant "it does seem" or "it seems as if" where you said "it doesn't seem" early in the song.  If not, then why bring up something that "doesn't seem" like it happened?
