Hi All

I have got some new "mastering" toys to play with as part of my set-up

Whilst I start to climb the learning curve in trying to use them I thought I would offer to work on forum member tracks

What is mastering?

Mastering is the bit that is done after the mix has been completed to add that extra shine and pro-polish to a track. It is also used to increase the volume of the mix to commercial release volumes

Mastering can transform a track for the better - and it can easily ruin a track - so I am looking for tracks to practice on


I am therefore offering to have a stab at Mastering songs for the first 5 forum members to PM me


Here are the provisos...

1 - you must have a song that you have mixed that is ready to be mastered (ie don't be one of the first 5 and then say you won't have a song ready for 6 months!)

2 - you are able to export a stereo WAV file of your mix so that it is around -6db to give me some "headroom" to play with (PM me if you need help doing this)

3 - if I do a cracking job you will allow me to use a "before/after" if I want to advertise in the future (and you will tell all of your friends)


I am looking to practice on all types of genres so would love to have a crack at anything

I am learning the ropes as I go so it may take some time but I will provide a mastered version to each person along with a description of what I have done to your track

I got my track back, and really like the way that it sounds.
The instruments are all more-articulated, the bass guitar pops like I was wanting it to, and it just, generally sounds better.
I think that Boydie is well on his way to becoming a pretty good mastering engineer.

 pm'd boydie on his amazing generous offer he fitted me in
 and i sent along a track not fully understanding the kind of track i should send
 i sent a track that was really well produced and good quality

 but when paul sent me the link for the track i was blown away
 right away i could feel the real warmth and sound punchier in every way
 the bass quality was fantastic and some of the things he tidied up as well
 i wouldn't even look for that goes down to his pro ethics to detail

             i'll be posting the two links soon on the finished song page
             to let you see the difference in the two tracks  ( I LOVE IT )
