Yellow Balloon

What a day, to be leaving
There's so much sun
And I ain't got that much sun cream
Don't be scared, believe me
You'll soon be standing
With the clouds beneath your feet

Let's go, up high, in a beautiful yellow balloon
No noise, just sky, we can make it
Last the whole day long, nothing is wrong
Just you and me

Our friends won't be needed
We'll tell them all
It wasn't that much fun to do
Tiny people looking upwards
They don't know the people looking down
Floating high above the town

Let's go, up high, in a beautiful yellow balloon
No noise, just sky, we can make it
Last the whole day long, nothing is wrong
Just you and me (just you and me)

Step into another world
Let your feelings be laid bare
You've never been so high
We're a mile above our lives
And what we feel can't be denied
We’re free by design

Let's go, up high, in a beautiful yellow balloon
No noise, just sky, we can make it
Last the whole day long, nothing is wrong
Just you and me (just you and me)

This great. Really nice pacey pop sound. Good melody well thought through BV's - really like the way they bounce of the main melody toward the end.

If I were to be really picky - perhaps its about 30 seconds too long for my taste (probably says more about my attention span) and (sorry) the 'sun cream' line really did not work for me and took a bit of getting over - but easily fixed I am sure.

But great really good stuff look forward to hearing a more finished version. All the best BTB
not really good at anything - but as long as I am breathing I will keep on trying

Cheers BTB,

The 'sun cream' line eh?  lol

I kinda like it as one of those weird non-rhyming things.

This song is finished now so thanks for the listen.

Alan.

I love the layers of guitars on this. It's what i've been trying to achieve lately. That poly-rhythm. Good job. I don't have much too critic. Except for maybe arguing about length and lack of variation. But i do that everywhere and all the time. So i'm tired of it. Any argument against that in pop numbers would be counter-intuitive. Ultimately, good stuff. I liked it. Love is a whole other level.
When hope fails a servant or prey,
Anger frees him from all the chains,
If hope disappoints, anger prevails,
And freedom is worth all the pain.

Lovely song Alan.

An anthemic and happy chorus " lets go, up high, in a beautiful yellow balloon...."

Since listening to this an hour ago, this chorus is still going round in my head.

A minor crit, if I dare, is around the vocal bridge between 2.00 and 2.24 - it's probably a bit predictable and this song requires something more in line with the anthemic nature of the whole song.....

Love the gap at 2.33 - at this point when you are playing this live on stage the fireworks shoot out and dry-ice spreads across the stage.......

Hi Alan,
This is a great song and I really enjoyed it.  The second verse gives it an extra depth, well written!
I liked the variations near the end too.  Maybe I would omit the word 'sun' from 'sun cream', doesn't spoil it though.
