As promised three of my favourite songs.

1. The Marvellettes Way Over There

Written by Smokey Robinson and recorded by the Miracles as well. I find the Motown female groups don't get the respect they deserve, often relegated to a footnote behind Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, etc.

This is a joyous 2:28 about how love overcomes all obstacles.

2. Les Rallizes Denudes Night of the Assassins

The greatest band in the world rewrites I Will Follow. If you like your music weird and noisy it doesn't get any better than this. Be warned though, this is not to everybody's taste. Music is sometimes more than the sum of its parts.

3. Robert Johnson Hellhound on my Trial

A song about Robert Johnson's demons from the 1930s. Most modern music can be traced back to the blues, and anyone looking into the history of the blues ends up at the door of Robert Johnson.
