My musical history starts back in the 80’s when I was fortunate enough to session as a vocalist (harmony work mainly) on a number of radio commercials for a brilliant keyboard player called Tim Cross (Mike Oldfields keyboard player), During these sessions I worked with top session guitarist Tim Renwick see his biog. http://www.timrenwick.com/chronology.html T.V. Smith of the Adverts, Tony Head (actor/singer Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Red Box etc). Chris Wyles Drummer (Shakin Stevens, Red Box),  Maggie Reilly (Mike Oldfields singer) and many more great musicians.

These connections ended up with me becoming a session musician for the band Red Box who had two major hits across Europe. "Lean on me" and "For America". I worked with them on most of the major T.V. music programs in the U.K including Top of the Pops twice 1985/86.

In 1988 I made a dance track entitled "Shake" that started to receive airplay on radio 1. This ended with me being managed by the legendary Pete Waterman. He also became the publisher for this particular track.
. It was a minor hit in the U.K. but went on to become the biggest song in Ibiza that year 1988.

During this time I met Simon Cowell who took a song I had co-written and placed it with a boy band called Yell.

I then secured a publishing deal with Warner Chappel.

For various personal reasons I kind of lost my way a bit after that. But I have been fortunate enough to have always made a good living from music.

I have always written music for advertising and as some of you may be aware I have just got a small publishing deal on a song by song basis (through MusicXray).

I have recently decided that I want to have another attempt at the charts (as a writer), and I’m really serious about it.

My area is ‘Pop’ type music. Catchy and melodic.

If any of you have formula/well constructed, unusual/strong story line with naturally flowing lyrics.

I am looking to collaborate. I will be spending a lot of time and effort putting together the new material, and One Direction Example -
, 5 seconds of Summer Example
, Bruno Mars - Example
, The Vamps (Also written by Bruno Mars) Example
is a good guide to the kind of lyric that I’m searching for. It's mainly about the chorus.

I know the kind of lyric I want so please don’t be offended if I decide not to use yours.

You can either P.M. me or email me direct with lyrics – martin@songcity.co.uk

Thanks in advance

Martin

Pop lyrics and lyrics that are strong and meaningful sounds a bit like a contradiction to me... When I actually hear a pop tune with a - say political or social - message I often think: "pity they don't take the subject seriously". Pop makes everything seem easygoing and maybe banal...

Well, I write both. I'm better with direct, maybe even harsh texts than the easygoing stuff. Nonetheless, there are actually about 50 romantic lyrics and even 20 party songs that I've written so far.

I don't contact you directly or send you particular lyrics because I don't want to flood you. Instead I'd like to draw your attention to my lyrics collection, and point out pages 384 ff where I provide categories, so you might pick individual titles that arouse your interest:

You will note that I write non-exclusively, even where I match my words to someone else's music. This has worked fine for me and my partners. You can take your picks without having to ask me. Only if a particular song is going commercial it must be registered properly and I would appreciate being informed. My craetor ID (IP number) is 00673391327.

Cheers,
Bernd

Just to be clear:

1.  You want lyrics (without attached melodies and/or accompaniment)???    OR

2.   You want lyrics with some melody concept?   OR

3.    You want lyrics with some melodic concept and some musical concept?

Many people here write real good lyrics (imo).
Some of us/them would only be interested if some of their musical concepts were to be considered.
Some of us/them would only be interested if our musical/melodic concepts were to be kept.

I personally have a LOT of lyrics.  Some of them, I'd be interested in just finding someone to develop.  Others, (rightly or wrongly) I've grown attached to my musical direction, and wouldn't want to abandon the current direction.

So.....  if you're interested, let me know specifcally what it is you are looking for.  If I know what you are looking for, I'd know what to send you.

ALSO.... I DO understand (I think) what you mean by "meaningful pop".  I've done what I consider some interesting things in that regard.
