This song was prompted last week by my wife saying the title in some conversation we were having.

As soon as she said it I knew it was a song...

I have been loved

Open G / capo 3rd

I've been lost in a world
That doesn't understand
Stood alone in a crowd
But I'm not the only one
I don't have much but I need no sympathy
Cos I've been loved

I had money in a bank
But I wasted it away
I'm a fool to the world
And I let it laugh at me
I lost it all but I've everything I need
Cos I've been loved

We give it all away
Like it's easy to come by any day
Love bends like wheat in the breeze
Let it blow, let it blow, let it blow

I was lost in a world
That never understood
Alone in a crowd
But not the only one
Never had anything but everything was mine
Cos I'd been loved

We give it all away
Like it's easy to come by any day
Love bends like wheat in the breeze
Let it blow, let it blow, let it blow
Oh let it blow, let it blow, let it blow

I like your verses, so easy (not a criticism, they are perfect IMO for the lightness of the song), i like less the chorus, i aspected it will "open" without arpeggios, just strumming, and the voice that goes up and down little more.

But since i am not a music reviewer it could be i thnk wrong, and you not...  ;)

Hi Alan,

I like this. It is McCartneyish indeed. The central concept comes through cleanly and each separate section accomplishes what it needs to.

In my head this is a much slower song, and I find the track too busy too early. Might it benefit from a sparser arrangement?

That's a nice vocal with a strong treatment.

I especially like:

Quote
Love bends like wheat in the breeze
Let it blow, let it blow, let it blow
Oh let it blow, let it blow, let it blow

I'm looking forward to seeing how this develops.

Matt
