Hi,

What's the best deal for a limited run audio cd - say 100 - basic packaging and so forth?

I have seen a site called CD Baby but this is a US based outfit

http://duplication.cdbaby.com/quoter/index.aspx

Is there a UK equivalent and if so, is there a recommended site please?

Thanks,

Ric

Hi Ric,
I'm not sure about how they compare with CD Baby but I'd give Alpha Duplication http://www.alpha-duplication.com/ / http://audio.alpha-duplication.com/ a call.  They do a lot of work within the industry so if you go to another CD duplicator the chances are that it'll end up being done by them anyway.

They'll do a really professional job of the printing & also have plenty of packaging options (card wallets, digipacks etc) on smaller runs which are usually only available on larger quantities. Hope that helps.

Hi,

Is this still open? Just want to recommend my CD duplication company. www.unifiedmanufacturing.com. We do short runs as few as 100 complete with full-color printing, shrink wrap, the works. And, we can even do distribution and fulfillment for you. Our company is not as established as discmakers but we did lots of stuff for lots of clients including Ringo Starr, Obama campaign, Will.I.am, etc. We also cater to indies. We opened our UK plant that's why I'm posting about it here. I hope you can help me spread the word.

we used CDClick.it for our CD:

After a lot of searching it seemed the best deal, lots of choices for the packaging and the prices for short runs are fine.

The ideal card cd sleeve would have a spine, so that you can identify a disc in a collection.

Just a thought ;)

With VAT and postage added, if you don't do a run of more than 100 you would need to sell at over £5 to just recoup losses....

We just did another run, this time trying out different (slightly cheaper & eco-friendly) packaging. Just a card jacket..we did a small run of 20 just to see what it is like...That works out at about £4.40/unit after shipping & VAT.

We'd prefer a target of £3 to sell as this is a 5-track EP for selling at concerts....So our next 'proper' run would need to be at least 150 units, to crop a modest 50p profit on each....

Really worth having a look at Disc Wizards in the UK. They seem to be excellent on card packaging especially Digipacks, and having compared prices, they usually come out to be the cheapest.

We've used http://www.webs4cd.com/ several times and they've done some really excellent Digipacks for us. Theyre based in Northampton and the feedback we've had them has always been great.
