Absolutely! - and I think it is amazing you got in this position and it is indeed encouraging that there are people out there that care about "the song"
For me some recent standout songs on first listen were: Domino (Jessie J), Blurred Lines (Robin Thicke), Troublemaker (Olly Murs), Gangnam (Psy), We Are Young (FUN), Call Me Maybe (CRJ), Wings (Little Mix), Hey Ho (The Lumineers), I Will Wait (Mumford & Sons), and Only Love (Ben Howard)
IMHO a demo song would need to be at least as good as these to stand a chance (and I appreciate "good" is subjective so perhaps "saleable" is a better term)
