So I've pretty much had a sleepless night, and I wanted to try and make good use of it. So, I decided to review a few songs/lyrics and then try and find some inspiration. I eventually did!

This song is probably one of my most personal and heartfelt songs, like it honestly hurt to write it (in a good way, I got all of those feelings out.) So this song is about me discovering my sexuality and coming to terms with it as well as the coming out process.

Anyway, here's the song:

VERSE1
When I first came to such a horrid conclusion,
I was overcome with confusion.
"Why did it turn out like this?" I asked,
And so the ugly beast was then unmasked.

PRE-CHORUS1
I pondered once, I pondered twice.
But I was pretty sure that it wouldn't be nice,
So I dismissed it and was on my way like that.
Little did I know that it would follow me back.

CHORUS
I have to make a cowardly confession,
'Cause I've suffered too long through denial and depression
To pretend I can dismiss a curse so fast,
When I know that it will always last.
The remains of my soul carried on through guilt,
And hid behind the countless lies I built
To conceal my emotions that always burn;
When, oh when will I ever learn?

VERSE2
I was overrun with frustration
While all my friends burst into celebration.
Then I turned straight back the denial once more;
Never had I set back to square one before.

PRE-CHORUS2
I thought it through, and then once again,
But I was certain that it would just bring pain,
So I retracted my statement and recalled the word
That I wanted so desperately to be heard.

CHORUS
I have to make a cowardly confession,
'Cause I've suffered too long through denial and depression
To pretend I can dismiss this curse so fast,
When I know that it will always last.
The remains of my soul carried on through guilt,
And hid behind the countless lies I built
To conceal my emotions that always burn;
When, oh when will I ever learn?

CODA
I thought it were impossible... (If only!)
But now the monster has captured me.
I thought it were improbable... (If only!)
And now I manufacture tales to try and set me free.

Oh wow. That's REALLY moving *wipes little genuine tears from eyes* (and if the lyrics are tearing me up, think about what this with music would do :o) this is just amazing though, I don't think the previous comments have sung your praises enough. This piece comes from a very private place and you can tell because it's literally dripping with emotion. You really did make the most of a sleepless night. But really, this is just astounding. Phenomenal. I want to say a better adjective but those are my best words.
There seems to be no word to describe how good this is.
I shall make one up.

Hi IPR,

You've done a good job of describing your situation and the emotions involved.

I thought the first pre-chorus you have was a little bit lacking.

How about something like:

'I pondered once, I pondered twice.
But I knew for sure thereā€™d be sacrifice
So I pushed it away and tried to stay on track
Little did I know that it would follow me back.'

Phil.
I don't know what i'm doing but i do it anyway.

A really emotive set of lyrics on a very personal subject, I can almost feel the arguments and tormet going on within.
My only thought is it might be challenging to set to music and sing, but hey that's for another day I guess.
