Hi Peter

I couldn't work out the link to the folk story. Sounds really interesting. Have you listened to the song?

Adam

I got troubles with the link too. I'll check back later :)

The lyrics reminded me alot of a folk story I heard in Borneo which I love http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Kinabalu#Tales

"She sat and she waited her future to be told
By one who had nothing to say"

Really strong line, and it's great its in the first verse. Kind of feels "helpless before hope", if you get what I mean.

Can't wait to here the music. Will post again

Peter

  Hi Adam.

Great song...leant towards 'classical' a bit too much for my taste ;D  But I always like listening to a master at work ;D ;D  Excellent guitar playing.....and you have a great voice.  Really enjoyed listening to this.

  Thanks, and WELCOME ;D ;D

Nowt as queer as folk...........my gran

Thank Binladeda. Not all my songs are as clearly classic folk as this, and I'm glad you liked it anyway.

I'll have to look up some of your songs to see what you taste is.

Cheers

Adam

Lovely song, I like the chord choice, interesting voicings in here, and the harmonies are lovely. The instrumental section kept my attention which is impressive for the length of that part.

Your voice is a little like a male Alison Moyet in places, very british of tone, I like it!

Nice first entry on the board :)

Thanks Nighthawk. I'm chuffed by "male Alison Moyet", not least because for a long time I struggled to find a voice to sing my songs with that worked. I sang in choirs (a long time ago and as a tenor) and that was one thing, but it didn't translate. I was never comfortable with reverting to something transatlantic or otherwise put on. Think I just got older and stopped worrying about it!

Might be an interesting thread to post on.

Cheers Adam.

Beautiful guitar work...love the raking. You've inspired me to explore that technique!

Songs great. Glad I came back for a listen. I liked how the "aways be" bit is a little suprise first time round ( because "stand where you will" holds up as a sentence on its own), then comes to be expected as a pay off for the chorus every other time. Clever!

Look forward to more of your work

Peter

Thanks Peter. Glad you like the key line. It came out that way but I worried that it is a bit odd, contrived even. But once the rest of the song was written it just seemed to work.

Had to look at you tube to check what raking was (though it sounds like what it is). Not sure where I do it on this song, but I'm playing fingerstyle here with just bare fingers. I'd think of it in terms of frailing.

Thanks for listening so attentively. Cheers

Hi Adam,

Delicate playing - very nice. Guitar sounds great throughout. Nice harmonies. Indeed the vocals in general are very good.

Top stuff.
