this a track Binladeda and i have been working on lately..in need of feedback, on the mix

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6nPkOVX5Vg&feature=youtu.be

yes, too much going on, as always, but i have trouble choosing what to leave out  ;D ;D ;D

no seriously, what needs to be cut out or go drastically down, and in what sections...???

or all over?  ;D ;D ;D ;D

advise and opinions are very! much appreciated.

Lyrics are something like this, but we are not sure yet  ;D ;D ;D:

lets all fall in love
lets do something beautiful
just like a thief out in the night
lets make a piece of history

yeah we'll take off all our clothes
run into the sand
looking like two comets
falling from the deep blue sky

lets all make a camp
please each other endlessly
i'm falling deep in love
moving with the energy

we can never make it sing
feeling it tonight
falling deep into your eyes
under the deep blue sky

so lets all fall in love
yeah lets do something beautiful
we can run into the night
make it, only fall in love
under this deep blue sky

oh yeah, well it's old and new
baby you can love it
i've been told
playing round with nothing in your hair
falling over you

so lets all fall in love
lets do something beautiful
yeah, we'll run out in the night
like two comets in the sky

Hey dutchy! Bin!

Well, this aint 'arf bad  ;D

The only thing I'd personally like is to have the lead vocal a bit further forward, it's like he's singing from the back of the stage, hiding behind the band.

Aside from that it's bloody great, very much a DutchBin creation.

Excellent!

Really strong track. When I read the title I was expecting a teeny bopper Pop number so I guess I couldn't have got it more wrong. The production is really strong though I do agree with the vocals needing to be brought to the front more.

Strong song mate. Love the contrast with the slower sections to break up the groove. As others have pointed out the vocalist sounds like he wasnt get paid enough so he sat in the cheap seats out back. The vocals are loud enough just too many effects and reverb on it which has pushed it back in the mix and muddied the track for you. Reckon the fix on the vocals alone will lift and add clrity to the other instruments as well.  Fantastic ending, liked it heaps.

Song is pretty cool as always from you guys!!!

Was that DB or Bin that cartwheeled across the screen around the 2 min mark?  My monies on DB cause he didnt have a beercan in his hand ;)

Kudos on the song and vid
Allan.

Hi guys...I love it...it's very trip y...it almost feels a little Moody Blues-y 8)...I like the vocals with all the reverb but maybe brought forward a little...but I kinda like the far away sound in some places too ...trip y video as well...I'm actually really into this kind of trip y vibe ;D...I really enjoyed it...so thanks for this share...I'm going to listen to it again 8)

Hard for me to be subjective because this is not my thing at all. The vocals are pretty unintelligible with too many effects and too far down in the mix but this may have been the sound you were trying to achieve. The quality of the playing is first rate but other than that, it's not doing it for me at the moment. I think this is my taste, not a problem with your material  :(

Hey dutch, love the lyrics a lot.  I also love that the song comes at you and you can't predict it, but it has a perfect logic of it's own. I like the style, I would listen to this.

It's like bowie vocal and sort of sensibility but unique to you, which is a neat act.  Defo sort the vocal mix out.

Did you produce this yourself?

DutchBin is my favourite forum collab!

Could do with a little less guitar over the first vocals in my opinion. It tidies up when the female voice enters, and there's more space.

Maybe I need more listens, but I'm missing the trademark Dutchbeat drum patterns. Rock is good and all, but I'd love to hear this elecro-d up a bit :D

Nice dynamic mix and arrangement DB, not really sure if I can offer much in the way of constructive criticism - I'm nowhere near this level when it comes to production and mixing.

Could the muted guitars at the end be doubled or tripled up a bit to make them super-fat?

Just my thoughts - but it's already very good indeed :)

Really like the 'let all fall in love' riff and the overall feel.
Just not too sure about what happens around 2.30 it seems to loose me until 3 min mark
I'd personally fade out from 4.20 with the guitar loud over the repeated lets all fall in love.
Look forward to hearing the 'surprises' and how it comes out of your musical birth chamber .

Hi guys and gals, thanks for the comments and feedback again...

we are going to work on this and try to get a new version out

CalmLondon, i am doing the mixing / production in reaper, and i always seem to like (too) many things going on at the same time...i am not good at production, so i am extra pleased with your encouraging comments....

and: Tone, about the drums, our next Binladeda and Duitchbeat song you will hear extremely electro-d up drums....very extreme  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D, it is just this rule of only one post per two weeks that prevents me to unleash that trance like rock beast on the forum right now  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I can hardly contain it....

thanks forumites for the feedback, we will replace the track in the new mix with the vocal suprise soon  ;D ;D ;D

Some notes in no particular order for you:

First up, Clarity. This is muddy. You have cleaned up some other mixes recently, odd to have reverted to mud.

The drums need to snap and crackle more. A punchier bass and snappier snare.

I like the bass but it needs boosting.

The vocals are an odd creature. There is a punk vibe here, a blasé attitude to melody and pitching which works but is, again getting lost. Turn up the mids and high mids and add a small amount of fuzz to push the punk idea. Run with messy, but with a clarity of vision.

Sort the above and the track will be well on the way :)
