This video is a demo for REASON but the principles apply to any DAW (or console)

This seems to be a great way to apply some extreme processing but keep the "essence" of the original

I have tried "parallel compression" on drum tracks but this video definitely takes it to the next level!

I liked the bit on processing vocals as well!

Thanks for posting!
Loads of interesting stuff in that video, although it's a bit odd that they present parallel or multibus compression as a 'new' technique...it's been around for years!
Their tips on how to use EQ in parallel are cool.

I typically use it (parallel compression) on my allen and heath desk which has a plethora of sends and returns to make it possible

A cool thing to do, which is employed heavily by michael brauer, is to set up sends to a number of compressors for different sounds and blend them all in.
Also, to have the side chain of one or two compressors triggered by something else (e.g. a bass comp triggered by the kick drum) can really glue a mix together..
