Ok... so I aim to write a song every couple of days, but usually I will write about 2-3 songs a night. Even if they're bad quality, a it shows some progress. Yet, recently I just can't seem to put pen to paper successfully, and anything I write is either really bad (and I mean extremely extremely bad) or they resemble other artists work  ???... Does anyone have any writers block tips? If you do they would be appreciated a lot :D

Hi ajtirrell

Welcome to the forum! Why not head over to the introductions forum and tell us a little about yourself?

It's usually a good idea to search the forum before you post - if you had, you would have found these three threads on writers block and how members tackle it.

But I would add to these that you need to give yourself permission to write bad songs. It's ok. We all do it. Just throw them away, and move on. If you've written material you're happy with in the past you'll do it again. Just be patient, and carry on writing. The muse will return in her own time (usually when you're busy doing something else).

I think it's great that you write that much. You're bound to be on a road of fast improvement. Awesome.

As far as coming up with ideas, try referencing other songs you like for the "big idea" of what your song could be about, or what chords to use. You'd be surprised at how just listening to, and playing along with, could get you going...
