Hey, this is my first post. I'm coming over from another forum as a more direct avenue for my songs and musings.
The story behind this is very long. It essentially boils down to my dislike for religion from many negative experiences from multiple faiths.
It was inspired by Bill Hicks and George Carlin. More specifically George Carlin's 10 Commandments routine.

I think it would sound good as a "God Is An Astronaut" style post-rock/ambient piece, but spoken.
Similar to this masterpiece - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpKMUg59or8

Here we go......

Look down upon this earthly ground
So hallowed 'neath our feet
And bear in mind that holy ghosts
Come from liars and deceit.

Not borne in hatred or in spite
But made to lift our hearts
Inspire and guide our lonely path
With the knowledge God imparts

For we are a race who lives in fear
Of death and the bizarre
But most of all what gives us fright
Is we don't know who we are

God was made to give us purpose
But I see through the lie
For fairy tales of old scared men
Offer nothing when I die

I know their God is their control
A way to keep the calm
And I won’t follow ancient rules
And live under their palm.

This hallowed ground beneath our feet
Is no gift from God.
This being we call the perfect man
Is mans biggest fraud.
