Firstly, if you're from California, please don't be offended. I don't really hate you, it's just a stereotype that I wanted to write about.
Secondly, feel free to comment, the more criticism and feedback the better I can become.  :)

Reasons Why I Hate California

I walk down the street
It’s a sunny day in Los Angeles
And every person that smiles at me
Is sporting Hollister with bleach covered teeth-
Their beautiful faces annoy me

Every path I walk there’s a shirtless skate boarder
And in every patch of ocean there’s a topless surfer
I just can’t help think what their parents would think if they could see them now

Reasons why I hate California
Reasons why I hate LA
Reasons why I hate the fake and z-list fame
Reasons why I hate California
And all the dollars they get paid
To advertise a life of sun and surfing waves-
Please give me a break

I head to the beach
It’s full of blondes in bikinis
And in my head I start to think
Girl go and put some clothes on please-
You’re making a size 8 feel ugly

Every path I walk there’s a shirtless skate boarder
And in every patch of ocean there’s a topless surfer
I just can’t help think what their parents would think if they could see them now

Reasons why I hate California
Reasons why I hate LA
Reasons why I hate the fake and z-list fame
Reasons why I hate California
And all the dollars they get paid
To advertise a life of sun and surfing waves-
Please give me a break

And I guess it just comes down to how my eyes turn green
Cos every Californian doll I envy, could’ve been me
But I guess I’ll never know because I never took the leap
I let stereotypes crush my Californian dream

Reasons why I hate California
Reasons why I hate LA
Reasons why I hate the fake and z-list fame
Reasons why I hate California
And all the dollars they get paid
To advertise a life I’d like to live one day-
When I get my lucky break

i am clearly not from California

and i certainly don't know anything about California

nevertheless, this does seem very much like stereotyping people from a certain area to me
which in this case would be

California  :P :P
and even though you say that in the beginning of your post

my opinion is that this not going to really lead to a song
but perhaps you have the music and melody already

it doesn't look good or funny to me, sorry
this could be due to a cultural or language difference, and that i miss it all, but i don't get it, it sounds bad, the way it is at the moment, in many ways, but hey, i am Dutch

I very much like the tongue in cheek nature of this song. It's very cheeky but also very funny. There are some great lines in there too ie making a size 8 feel ugly. I think the key to this will be getting a good melody that helps set the tongue in cheek tone of the song, but as it is I really like it and I like how it is that bit 'outside the box'. The title is pure genius and I guess the lyrics pretty much do what the title says they are going to on the tin :)

This could work in a song, but would need the right melody, right band to pull it off....would be a gimmicky type of number.

I can hear Beastie boys doing this.

Thanks you for the comments :) but like I said before I didn't write this to offend people. Songwriting should be about pushing boundries and and every song I seem to read/hear is about love so I wanted to do something outside the box x

No offense but this seems to be coming from an insecure place vs. a satirical place. However, I can imagine it being healthy release in writing this!

I read the song then I read the reviews, and I disagree with all of them.
I think it's great, very funny with some great lines, like someone else said, the line about making a size 8 feel ugly. Very clever.
Its not ignorant, pompous or irritating either
It's not to be taken seriously and yeah, maybe the Beastie Boys could do it, but I was thinking more Flight of the Conchords..maybe.
I liked it, that's what I'm trying to say here.

Thank you, I'm glad (although opinion is divided) most people get where I'm coming from! Like I said before it is just supposed to be a fun, cheeky song and I'm sure it's really nice in California x

I disagree again with the bulk of the above. I think that this would be better as a somewhat more serious song as it does have some powerful commentary on the western world's 'Hollywood Culture'. It's quite a generalisation to lump the whole of California in with this very specific area and attitude (and image) but I still think it's very clear what is really meant here. It's not necessarily hating California as a whole, it's the projected attitude and appearance of that very image-obsessed movie-america culture.

I'm not from California but this is all so true! You put it so simply and bluntly which I think is really effective at getting the point across.

Just saw this had almost 500 views, I'm so grateful to everyone who's viewed and commented, this has definitely been my most successful post so far. And I love the Lily Allen idea, that would be too awesome! Thank you thank you :)
