My entry in the pawprint challenge.

http://soundcloud.com/allan-kilgour/dog-tired

Dog Tired
=======

Im dog tired of
Livin on the street
Im dog tired of living on
scraps to eat
Im dog tired and now Im locked in this cage
Im lookin for a man to
Turn my page

Im dog tired of
hiding ‘till its late
Im dog tired of running
From the state
Im dog tired and now Im locked in this room
Im lookin for a man to
Sweep my broom

Chorus
Take me home with you
and Ill Treat you right
Please take me home with you Tonight
Theres a needle waiting here
to end my show
Please take me with you when you go

I'll get the paper for you
When you call
I'll roll over even
Fetch your ball
Im dog tired of being left all alone
Im looking for a man to
Throw me a bone

Solo

Repeat Chorus

Great stuff Allan, loving those little piano pieces, and that guitar solo, cool..and the lyrics fit the overall blues feel, nice approach.

This is our bluesy entry, we've got such a great, diverse selection of music for this album, it's really coming together very nicely.

Thanks for taking the time to do this, excellent  ;D

Very nicely done, Allan!

Really strong vocals, some cool and unexpected chord progression especially in the verses, a guitar solo... what's not to like here?
I love the sound of the electric guitar with the tremolo effect on it.

Was surprised to hear you mention the needle in the chorus, gives the whole song a very dramatic turn and this is the first Pawprint song that actually directly addresses the brutality of the issue at hand. Also a great decision to go ahead with a piano solo right after the chorus, to give that line time to sink in...

I personally would like the chorus to stand out of the mix a bit more (but that's really just me, I'm a sucker for that big lifting effect to come in with the beginning of a chorus section).

Nothing else to say, this is a great song ! :)

Hi Allan

Greet bleusy stuff. Loved it!
The subject is coming through clearly, nicely produced as well.
Only remark I would/could give is that the piano solo right after the chorus could do with a little reverb. But that's only my opinion and obvsly I'm not a producer, so there's loads of people around here who could give a better opinion on that part.
Opposed to Michael, I don't think you should make the chorus big. It fits in right for me and it doesn't really need a climax IMO.

Well done!

i like that "dog tired" in the lyrics

classic blues, with a very modern treating of the vocals (and singing melody in the chorus)

cool!!!! and very special, i think

i am very impressed

wow, now I am just trying to imagine you sitting on a sofa in your brown suit, your kipper tie and with enormous sideburns. That sure would be some sight. I of course, will retain the dancing girls lol.

Bloomin fab Allan! I love the lyrics, the vocals, and the song!. Anthony told me how you guys were writing songs for the dogs....I just didn't realise how committed you all are! Even though Tone said about it being a separate project, that was because I wasn't well enough at the time to carry on with all the work, (I was burned out after running the dog rescue alone for 4 years, plus the work promoting the song for dogs) but now I really think that after the pawprint challenge, all these songs should go on an album, and we can put them all on the original song for dogs website and have it as the album for dogs. It would do so much good!
