I've tried collabs in the past but they never worked out

I'm a control-freak, you see

Occasionally when drunk, I'll ask someone if they'd like to work on something with me. But that's the drink talking

I suspect that most people who write songs are control-freaks

Haha I suspect you're right! Collaborations for me are about performing the songs, not writing them. I've only co-written about three songs in my life, all with my wife. There's no-one else I've ever even wanted to write with.

I think it's different for those who only write lyrics or music though...

ha, you are right
i am a control freak too

but I like to collaborate with a singer, cause I can't sing at all

but luckily Mrs Dutchbeat can sing very, very well!

I would love to collaborate with somebody that likes to write lyrics, and not music, and gives me every freedom to do with those lyrics what I want, anyway I want

because, yes, I am a total control freak
when it comes to music, I mean ;D

well, to be honest, in general I am

I must have control over chords, lyrics and vocal melody.  It's great to hear accomplished musicians play my songs, but I've got to trust their ability. I think it shows that you care tremendously about what you do!

This is me all over.  When I sit down with another musician / lyricist to write and I come up with something, I immediately get all possessive and want to keep it for myself.  It's weird but I feel like it devalues the song in my eyes if it isn't all my own work.  I have no idea why, as I am never like this in life otherwise?
