Colour me sceptical
The article suggests there were problems with the backing track. Now if this is true, the backing track would likely be multichannel. If it were just a stereo track, with her vocal sung live over the top, what can go wrong here beyond skipping/data corruption? If however there is the instrumental, and layered vocals on seperate tracks (kinda like a live DAW setup), a mixing issue across the tracks is possible. We may be hearing too little at first then too much after.
Also, the vocal is very dry. Which could lend credence to my theory. Perhaps the vocal is a dry studio take which can then be treated live be the venue sound techie to "Sit" in the track, and sound like a better "Fake" live performance.
Yup, I am that sceptical!
Also: To move like that and hold notes without wobbling on pitch of dynamic is quite the ask!! The girl can dance granted, but it seems very unlikely to do both on held notes.
The vocal doesn't quite tie with the mouth expressions. Some sudden stops and inflections don't seem to be represented by the face shape, but then the video is rough. I spend a lot of time watching vocalists. Proper singing often ain't pretty! This is why music videos look so odd, esp for starlets. They mime concious of odd faceshapes, so it looks wrong.
Another issue I have: Live or not, the vocal is average. It is OK pitch wise (though sharp in spots), and rough expression wise. Her JOB is singer. He job is to sing, dance and look pretty. That's it! She doesnt write, produce, manage... surely, if she has such a streamlined career role she should be a better singer than middling?
