has that bond feel cos they use the bond theme in the song...i think it`s ok....not a classic though,,not diamonds are forever..or you only live twice.

oooh a new bond song!
i thought it was disapointing tho... the lyrics were nonsense & the song just proves that anyone thinks they can write a song nowdays....it was just a pastiche of all the great bond songs
adele has a nice voice but shes no shirley bassey altho she does have a very burly chassis
now diamonds are forever could well be my fave song of all time....its perfect ( needs a guitar solo tho! )
anyway daniel craig is ugly hes got the body but he should have spent the time in the gym working on his face not his pecs
sean connery was gorgeous & roger moore if hed done it 15 years earlier would have been totaly FWORRR!
anyway sorry a load of nonsense but to be fair thats the appeal of bond films

I think that the Skyfall melody is quite decent.  It benefits from that  wonderful and unmistakeable motif that features in all of the Bond films.  I haven't read the lyrics yet, instead I've simply listened to the mood of the song.  Adele's vocal performance is very good. I'd say that very few vocalists are as good or as distinctive as Shirley Bassey so most artists have their work cut out trying to follow in her footsteps.  Diamonds are forever is a classic! 

I wonder how many forum members have written a Bond song.  It would be very interesting to hear what people have come up with if they have attempted to do this.  If you haven't written one, it's a great way to test your writing skills as it makes you focus on writing appropriate lyrics and a melody suitable for the task! I'm surprised this hasn't been considered for a forum competition!

Actually its good when played loud.....can imagine it will sound good in the cinema.....plus 26 million views in 8 days on YT,,,Adele reigns supreme.

Hey.

This is only the 2nd time I've heard this. After the first hearing I really didn't like it at all.
Yes it has that Bond theme running through it, but it's just too close to other Bond songs.
Her voice is too monotonal and miserable, very much like the rest of her stuff.
I used to think she was ace but am very bored of here whinning, miserable vocals now so maybe it's her
and not the song.
You are right, it does sound better turned up and will probably work well in the cinema.
I didn't think it was quite as bad this 2nd time round so maybe it will grow.

Still on the theme of James Bond but moving away from theme tunes, I hadn't realised that the author John Gardner had written 16 James Bond novels.  I've just bought 3 of them today:  The Man From Barbarossa, Scorpius and Win Lose Or Die.  hopefully, they'll prove to be a good read!

Doesn't even have to be a competition tina.  I reckon it would be really interesting to hear what different writers come up with.  It is an exciting songwriting challenge and great fun.  You feel a great sense of achievement when you tackle a specific writing challenge like this.  So, regardless of competitions (though that would be fun too) I urge people to have a go at this.
