Hi habiTat,

I've made a good start this evening.  I'm writing this purposely as an instrumental but I could omit certain instruments and musical phrases if you'd like to write lyrics and add a vocal.  My first task however, is to make this work as an instrumental.  :). Let me know if you'd like to tackle this when it is finished.

Thanks

Ok Paul, cool. I can't promise anything but I'd love to give it a go. I've never written lyrics to an established tune/structure before so it'll be a good test of my abilities :)

Nice one :)

Wow...Tinas song has certainly set a high standard here. Going to be a real challenge to compete with that....can't we deduct her some points for a false start or something  ;D ;D

i got up this morning, and i had one of those weird Dutchbeat ideas Again....

do you want to hear it?

well, i will tell it anyway

a while ago, i talked about us forumites one day perhaps meeting and having a party and jam session (when the forum reaches its five year anniverssary???..)

but now with this project for homeless dogs.....haha..suppose we organise a festival for this purpose, we certainly don't have to pay the bands

or....we show up at an open Mic night somewhere, but we pretend we don't know each other, but just want to deliver one song, and then every song turns out to be about homeless dogs.....

oh well, never mind

 ;D hahaha
And then we all get up on the stage and perform one song together - like a musical flash mob

All joking aside, if you did want a forum "get together" I would be happy to put an event together as I have access to some "facilities"  ::)

It would need to be in Kent so not sure how convenient that woukd be for everyone but could be something to bear in mind for the future...

Cool Boydie

i would be in for that...but i have to see whether i can make it
looking at where Kent is...(it is in the South-east of the UK...near Dover, is that right? that actually looks like i can take the ferry  ;D)
if we in the future one day would do that, i hope we can plan the date well ahead

What is the deadline for this?

I have finished writing something and have recorded some stuff - just vocals and guitar solo to go!

I am away next week so just need to know if I have to get it in before I go or when I get back

Is anyone planning to post an interim demo type thing as discussed earlier? I know Tina's is up for review but hers is finished. Or are we all waiting until they are finished to post them? Is anyone holding a finished one back, waiting for the deadline? You don't need to, post it whenever it's ready. :)

I think I'm gonna post a demo version in a couple of days or so once I'm finished wih the rough song structure, just to get some advice early on.
I'm a bit stuck at the moment and not sure how to continue the song, but I hope I'll get everything together in time.

Ah ok that's good cos I was thinking about doing the same. If we post them in this actual thread do you reckon that'll be ok re. the one per week rule?  Also they wont get as widely seen which might be good while they are unfinished. Only people into the comp will find them :)

or not? what you think?

This comp has a unusual requirement for the finished product, so I would think that posting bits and early demos for help is not a bad idea. I'd keep the questions asked quite narrow though.

As for me, I'm just hoping to be able to get the ideas I have down in time.  :o

Perhaps there might be some mileage at the end of the comp to polish the more obvious rough edges off the tunes up before releasing the album?
