Ive recently been writing songs with a brilliantly poetic friend with the intention of starting a band. Basically weve come up with around 20 songs in 2 weeks, more songs than i've ever written! Ive maybe been trying harder to produce songs which would translate better over onto a band as oppose to my more acoustic folky stuff and maybe the lyrics are weakened by my inexperience in this area. Anyhow, we'd both be really greatful if we could get some comments and criticisms on what weve got, to maybe further finetune our writing. Thanks in advance. Here's a collection of what we've got so far: -
Oh How Sad
oh how sad
when the trruest words you have spoke
are bitter lies
it comes as no surprise
that you are on your own
dear boy
oh how sad
when you are out on your own
and you don't talk
you just walk
back into oblivion,
my dear boy.
oh what a shame
to see you lose everything you had
you lost your friends
and in the end
you'll lose me too
but i wont forget you.
oh how sad
you wake up just to go back to bed
and all the dreams
swirl around in your head
you may as well be dead
my dear boy
Oh how sad
When your world comes tumbling in
but you sit and watch
As satin closly whispers All is lost
My dear boy

Chief of my heart,
I always thought you were,
too good.
Chief of my head,
you threatened to leave,
I always knew you would.
Chief of my soul,
you suck the air,
I just can't breathe.
Chief of the world,
If you leave,
I'll die incomplete
(chorus)
standing at the station
through my head,
anticipation
now
chief of my legs
you steady my stumbles
with loving lead
chief of my lips
your sensual touch
is hard to kick
chief of my hands
you gave me water in desert sands
chief of my life
i always thought you'd be my wife
(chorus)
standin at the station
through my head,
anticipation
now
(outro)
the trains not come
your not around
your not here to wear your crown
leave into the shadows
without your warm warm hand.

Death is a loving affair
Death is a loving affair
cold and dark like her hair
And hurt is to be given
accidentaly to the ones i love the most
at night I gave her an object,
a glowing ring for her to collect
she wears it matching her eyes
but i can't fit in with her delicate style
the girl who makes me weep
the same who make me cry
and burn burn but she say's
I love this man'
but i can't stand to take the pressure.
CHORUS
-------------------------
oh and i do adore her
but to be with her is like dying
cos all shes done is left me crying
-----------------------------

Miss Me?
I've lived the pain without refrain,
never scared to speak out or say
do you miss me?
Of course you don't, there's history,
of fights, nights and drunken spite,
won't you forgive me?
(CHORUS)
Oh but wouldnt you like to go somewhere
ah but you don't want to go anywhere
can't you atleast kiss me,
and say you miss me?
*************
We were living on the edge - you said
don't be scared, keep your head,
oh but your crazy
and im just lazy
(CHORUS)
And the funeral band marched on
outside my bedroom window - are we dead and gone
or just missing in action?
(CHORUS)

Skid Row
Out on Skid Row
Where all the hobos go,
to get heroin and soup
and sick outside the co-op.
Down on Skid Row
They've got no money.
Just a building society
bank with graffiti on the walls.
And the old folk,
down on Skid Row,
who don't know where to go,
wander about drinking in the rain.
And the young folk,
bred on Skid Row,
can't find anything to do,
except burn holes in bus-shelters.
------------------------------------
(BRIDGE)
Down in the Bowery Slums,
Where the people sing songs of depression,
The politicians talk in tounges,
so no-one can understand them.
Money, Honey what have you done?
took the peoples power and gave it to scum.
this town will drag us down my dear,
all there is are fags and beer.
-------------------------------------
And I can't help but think
of all the people there so happy,
when i am on the brink
in some classless suburban abode.
And I lost my love,
out on Skid Row,
beside the collared doves,
and the cigarette buts in the snow.

A Working Love
In a year of fumbled ecstacy,
we lost our place, my lover she
in debt and fallen from society,
me without care nor responsibility.
Down in London, Oxford street,
the cars all passed us by,
On fire till the morning came
with only the riots to keep us sane
My head is littered with memories,
their stored away with unknown keys.
But move on please, and don't look back
the money's stopped, the walls have cracked -
Just like our love,
flown away like a collared dove,
from piccadilly circus where the workers all pour,
shot down like everything that tries to soar.
Show me where we are coming from,
and where you want to go,
dear i'll take you anywhere,
Anywhere alone until forever more.
If i have to run,
my shadow will follow,
cast by the sun,
shot black by the gun -
And If she cannot stay,
then we'll go far away -
Far past the borders
that chain us today.

Midnight Dreams
At the stop
I'll wait for you
My lift to ecstacy
Your old and bruised
With such distain
And oh soo great to see
Chorus
Oh i'm in such debt to you
Dont drop me please i beg of you
The pavements roll
All one big blur
Thats a band
I quickly slur
We laugh we laugh
Oh my days
I feel it coming
Get out my way
Chorus
Oh im in such debt to you
Dont drop me now i beg of you
Your taste soo bitter
Hard to kick
The cold moonlight
Fails to show
Were we are
And were to go
But somehow we
Make it back tho we can hardly see
Chorus
Oh im in such debt to you
Dont drop me ever i beg of You.

A Love Deceased
A love deceased
A love increased
This twisted world goes on
It gives and takes
And trys to fake
Some liars tears
In damp flats
And darkened roads
They wish for death
But instead slowly erode
There wandering eyes
See know more
Blinded by lifes truths
My love deceased
my pain increased
she suck the blood out
of your red veins
leaves you standing in the rain
your heart filled up with pain.
(C) Brown/Gibson
I'm Deceitful, I'm a riot
I'm a coward, am I too quiet?
I can't keep track of time,
the time we lost.
Have I passed my prime?
----------
(CHORUS)
But oh - wouldn't you like to know
the places that I go,
But I don't have to show
You my bones when we're alone.
----------
I'm a fool when I'm unwise,
a fool for you, is that a suprise?
I don't share my dreams
I don't want you to know
just what the mean.
(CHORUS)
I don't want to hurt you when I lie,
When your alone I know you cry,
Over all our fiascos.
I can tell from your eyes
and all the used tissues.
(CHORUS)
(C) AHF Gibson 2010
Trouble
your lies they cut
like a thousand knifes
your tempered words
and bloodless life
they say that time
will heal the scars
Instead I drink up the time
in lonesome bars
what have you done?
plunge into my heart
some call it fun
you call it art
i always knew -
it was trouble
your broken smile
entices the devil
your glowing skin
so cold and brittle
your jaggy soul
troubled and abondened
you have no right
to fight me
im not a pitch
to settle your score
(C) Brown/Gibson 2010
Mon Amis, Ma Souer
It's wrong to be rich when others are poor,
The world is cold and dark,
no light for us to see.
The world is dark and cold,
mon amis, ma souer.
----------------------
(CHORUS)
Mon amis, Ma souer,
enjoy it while you can.
----------------------
In the morning, the rain falls so much harder,
almost so hard you cannot see,
the end of the dole que line,
which looms so large over me,
mon amis, ma souer.
(CHORUS)
There's the sun behind those clouds,
casting rays all around.
Your smile is like a breath of wind,
lost in the mist of the morning cloud,
mon amis, ma souer.
(CHORUS)

Sorry if ive sort of overloaded the post with songs, and i realise that consequently it may be hard to give any feedback, but we have really written a lot of songs over the past couple of weeks and i have no idea which one is best.
thanks in advance
