Reverse (demo)
© 2012 MRI / Words & Music by Daren Thomas Turner

--------------------------------------------
wounded by a violin in heat tasting of the rain
i became the aperture; i became the iris

with no colors save the greys
and the only stains are fades
giving way to just a blank page

now and then it blows my mind
forward, play, stop, rewind...
           reverse

forward, march!  another taste.  this time
a little taste of spain remained inside me
with its eyes gouged out.

i remember all the veins
(you know i used to name my veins)
i named them after the apostles

now and then it wears me thin
slows me down and puts me in...

Hi Virus!
Everybody who knows me a bit, knows i am a total sucker for retro Beatles-Zeppelin post-modern analog electronica psychedelic music!

and this piece especially ;D
seriously, I loved listening to this, and i am fascinated by the lyrics you always come up with
they are really weird  ;D

you hid the verses (the singing in the verses) completely in the mix, i woiuld say: Louder and clearer

I am really diggin' ths one

That reverse sound is like a knife cutting through the sonic spectrum - awesome!

The spread of the long held notes followed by the panning going round my head is also a really nice touch

I would also like to give an honourable mention to the "snare" sound, which is just perfect for the track

I would highly recommend people listen to this on headphones!!! - it is quite an experience!

This is my favourite track of yours (so far...) and it is the furthest away from what I would usually listen to!!!!!

Great job - loved it!

Great track!  Loved that low rumbling bass and that nice and crunchy guitar.  Shaker and snare put you in a trance that you can just float on through.  Lyrics were great "wounded by a violin in heat tasting of the rain"  naming your veins after apostles.... props.  I would to hear they lyrics a little clearer.  Not totally standing out but just a little more prominent in the mix.  Good stuff man.

Still speechless  ;D ...thought I was listening to the missing section to 'I am a walrus', the bit that lennon wrote and paul cut out  ;D...well crafted, clever stuff..don't know about the commercial potential, and I'm sure that doesn't even enter your mind when your writing. ;D...but I love it. Not just a good song. It's stimulating, inspiring, interesting, all of that as well ;D....just made a mental note to listen next time I'm really pssed....maybe not so speechless then.
Nowt as queer as folk...........my gran

Wahey! I'm a fan.  ;D
This is very, very cool. Led Zep and The Beatles are two of my favourite bands although I have a lot.  :D
That reverse sound is awesome in this track as are many other things.
Other bands like Kula Shaker obviously came to mind too, I even thought of Ozric Tentacles for a while.
Love it.  ;D

Those vocals and harmonies are great too btw.

There are holes in the sky where the rain gets in  , but they're ever so small, that's why rain is thin.

ABV, you are a very skilled musician/producer. I'm never disappointed by your stuff. You seem to be able to come up with an original spin on familiar sounds, very clever.

Excellent, excellent work :)

Hi Virus,

Quality.
I'd echo the comments made already. My kind of "catchy weird" rather than weird for the sake of it. Although it has those Beatles influences it still sounds modern. Really liked the bit around 3.56.
Production sounds great.
Definitely my cup of tea.

All the best,

Digger
