Lost his arm at the age of 14. Amazing how some people fight back when life craps on them from a great height. His left hand must be bloody strong!

Well - I take my hat off to his tenacity, but there's no music in that to my ears. I'm not a fan of shredding at the best of times but can some do it with fluidity and phrasing. That was just a noise to me ... horrible buzzsaw tone.

I'm with Estreet on this one. Hats off for not letting the loss of an arm stand in his way, but play some music for god's sake. That was just horrible!

The first guy was awesome. Incredible to see him not let his disability ruin making music for him.
The 2nd guy was crap haha. Two handed guitarists can easily do what he does with lots of distortion on.

Define 'better' when it comes to music ... That whole idea of something being 'better' because it's faster is what I think is wrong with that whole shredding concept .... what about tone, phrasing , expression and feeling? Like I said, I think some people do have those things and also a lot of speed but it seems to me that some people are seeing music as a sport. There's no shortage of videos of me playing guitar on Youtube but I won't post a link because I don't want to engage in a competition, one I'd certainly lose if speed was the sole criteria of quality! However, should you want to take a look at my channel, it's named Threestreet

Michael Angelo Batio has "technical ability" yet he is possibly the worst guitarist I've ever had the misfortune to let into my ears.

I'm with estreet on this one. Tone, phrasing, expression - these are the things that make a good guitarist.

For all those desperate to discover the talent that is Michael Angelo Batio, may I present

So are we saying these disabled people are only amazing when they play music we like or `approve` of.?
I don`t like shredding guitar work that much either, but it`s not that easy to do ...

No - not saying that at all. Just saying that he's not a very good musician. But he is inspirational in overcoming a disability and picking up the guitar regardless.

The first disabled guitarist in this thread is excellent. The second one is poor. Is it wrong to point this out?

I forget who said ' The difference between a good musician and a bad one, is that the bad one fails to convey his emotions to the listener'. Yes, the second guy has some level of technical ability which must have been all the more difficult to achieve given his disability. However, I expect that he, like a lot of disabled people, wouldn't want people to think that what he does is 'good for a disabled guy' but would rather be judged on a level with everyone else. When I review something I don't personally like, I wouldn't slam it because it's not to my taste but would rather look at whether it works in achieving what it was trying to do. I don't think that second guy has got there whereas the first has. I'm not sure that has anything to do with guy 2's disability - I suspect his playing would still be quite similar had he got two arms and hands.

Tone, I have Michael Angelo's 'Hot Licks' instructional video which I keep for its comedy value. It's a thing of wonder to me that this guy, having achieved blisteringly fast widdling right-handedly, couldn't think of anything better to do with his time other than learn to do
the same thing left-handed...

I think you`re both being sniffy ..cos you don`t like this style of guitar work...it does n`t sit well with your view of what aesthetically pleasing music should sound like...you`re mocking of MA proves this.

For peeps who can`t play or who are learning or want to shred but can`t...Benny boy is pretty good....
