The Blueprint Challenge

Ok guys, here it is...

Basic Aim/Rules
Using the 'Blueprint' Lyrics below (kindly supplied by Songsthatcry), compose and record a song in the style of your choosing. You may use whatever chords/rhythm/melody you want. The idea is to see how differently each of us fair when presented with the same basic lyrics 'on paper'. Minor flexiblity is allowed, ie. repeating the chorus/omitting the odd tricky line, but where possible, try as best you can to stick to the script. This should be a good test of your ability to be creative and work with something outside of your comfort zone.

Your Submission
Now I understand that you guys are busy people, spending loads of time recording/mixing  a song that someone else wrote may not be high on your list of priorities. Because of this and the fact that this is a challenge in your interpretation of lyrics and not your mixing/production skills, a basic recording will suffice. If you want to call in the London Philharmonic Orchestra and pay George Martin to produce it, thats fine ;) but a basic 'voice/guitar', 'voice/keyboards' recording will be fine.

Deadline...ish?
I have thought about this and I understand that people have work/family/jollies etc. so, three weeks will be the initial duration of the challenge, entries after this time will be ok (it is a challenge, not a competition) but three weeks will be the 'work time' given before your efforts can be posted. Due to the nature of the challenge, hearing someone elses effort early may influence your own work and defeat the object. Because of this, PLEASE DON'T POST YOUR RECORDING UNTIL SUNDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER. By the looks of previous competitions, its probably best to submit your recording on its own thread within this competions board, entitled 'Blueprint entry...' or the like. That way each entry can be reviewed seperately by others. Submissions after this date are fine, just try to avoid listening to other peoples work or you might accidently/subconciously copy them :)

Who wins?
I think in this case, whoever has a go and actually records something will win. To create a song from a set of words which will stand out as an individual, unique audio entity is pretty cool. And given the fact that we've all had the same starting point, it should serve to show how unique each of us are in our thought processes and creativity.

If there is any demand for finding an actual winner by democratic vote, let me know and I'll contact Tone and try to find out how we do a poll once all the submissions are posted.

Ok, I think thats it, if you're finding this thread a bit late, don't worry, feel free to join in, the more, the merrier.

If you decide to join in, just stick your name down on a reply to this thread so we all know who is playing :) and use this thread for any discussions relating to the challenge.

Here is your Blueprint, GOOD LUCK

if there was  still something,,something, left to prove...
don`t you think,.. i wouldn`t make that first move,,
when am i never there, to hold a hand

i have nothing left to prove
and it`s a grove ,i fit in to so easily
so pleasingly ,understand me..babe

and when you break it all down
into the  itty bitty parts..

you still can`t find the piece
where all the trouble starts..

so i will just play your games
and fall in to your arms..
(chorus)
cos,you know i`m only shining my
copper coated heart..

......
i`m a good soldier
and i will soldier on

and if you need a friend
 until the battles won
i`m on your side
till the final charge..
and if your order is to love you
that wish is my command.

(chorus)
cos,you know i`m only shining my
copper coated heart..
...
(MIDDLE
and i glow like  gold
when the sun is out
yes i glow like the gold
in a fire lit sky
on a summers night
and i feel it so right..
feels so right

in my .......
copper coated heart..

cos you know i`m only shining
and you know i`m  only shining

 ..my copper coated heart...

and i will just play your games
and fall in to your arms..
