They’re kissing on the park bench, smirking like they could burn this city down
All the girls singing indie pop like its some new thing
Swanning off to be fabulous, it’s not easy when you look like this
Pretty faces, prettier smiles, it’s a new craze
Warm beer and even warmer faces, everyone sings along this time
Warm beer and even warmer faces, everyone sings along this time

Taylor’s swinging skirts on the LA stage, looking like it’s not been done before
She’s moving tickets with her new face, it’s a new face
She’s not read Shakespeare; she’s a pretty dot, quiet as still air but filling all the seats
All Steve’s friends say his music’s cool but it’s not like hers
Warm beer and even warmer faces, everyone sings along this time
Warm beer and even warmer faces, everyone sings along this time
These songs are just as they should be, a paper card to write your feelings on

Well love, sure, it comes and goes, but songs about it never seem to ease
Just light another cigarette and write what you feel, write what you know
Steven runs into the rainy street, knowing that he’s mimicked Taylor’s style
He knows it’ll be hard to beat but he thinks he’s got it made, he knows he has it made
Cold cups of tea and sleeping faces, and now he thinks he’s got a number one
Cold cups of tea in restless places, and now he thinks he’s got a number one
A number one, but he’s full of shit and he knows it because he’s can’t relate to it
And he himself had his heart broken, by a girl who lives on the other side of town

Warm beer and even warmer faces, everyone sings along this time
Warm beer and even warmer faces, everyone sings along this time
Warm beer and even warmer faces, everyone sings along this time
Warm beer and even warmer faces, everyone sings along this time

Pretty good take on the mainstream music 'issue' (insert better word there as you see fit). I also like how you discuss both love songs and mainstream music and how they interact. Good stuff here man.
