Here is a tongue-in-cheek number about my favourite sub-culture.

Cheer Up Goth

1.
I’m a swirling mass of dark energy
Restless soul cannot hide behind my lethargy
Don’t tell me that they haven’t got it in for me
Look at me when I say ‘don’t look at me’

We’re the Damned, we’re the cure for the ethereal
Coloured night, hair and eyes show the pain we feel
Dressed in lace, corpse painted to my soul
But it hurts the most when they’re calling me an Emo

Chorus
Cheer up Goth, it may never happen, they say,
Get lost in my life of misery,
It’s not like they got it in for me,
But they don’t understand a word that I say, yeah,
It’s wrong being this miserable, but
As long as we never listen to,
Anything we’re told,
We’ll never grow old.

2.
I’m unique, like the friends that I imitate
By the door, at the mall where we congregate
We’re the Underworld, the armies of the night
But we’re not really hurt by direct sunlight

I once had a thing for Avril Lavigne
Under my skin, she was the best damn thing
The one sunshine in the bleak life I lead
But I feel even worse since she sold out and got married

Chorus
Cheer up Goth, it may never happen, they say,
Get lost in my life of misery,
It’s not like they can’t see me,
But they pass on by like they never even saw me,
It’s wrong being this miserable, but
As long as we never listen to,
Anything we’re told,
We’ll never grow old.

Middle 8
Look at my hair, it’s all black
Look at my clothes, it’s all black
Look at my outlook, it’s all black
Look at me now; what’s my colour?

Chorus
Cheer up Goth, it may never happen, they say,
Get lost in my life of misery,
It’s not like they can’t see me,
But they pass on by like they never even saw me,
It’s wrong being this miserable, but
As long as we never listen to,
Anything we’re told,
We’ll never grow old.

We’ll never grow old.
