Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum but looking to get involved quickly.  Slightly patchy internet at the moment so may be a bit inconsistent in visits but can try.
I wrote this song a few days ago about the present British coalition government - it's an acoustic folk/punk song.  Anyway let me know what you think if you can spare the time.  I'm going to try and make the structure as clear as possible.

The Final Arraignment

(Verse 1a)
They say that honesty's a virtue and many a lone desire
But the latest demographic suggests the world is full of liars
And by the rights that we have gained through the blood of those unnamed
A subliminal choice of tone would erase what we've attained

(1b)
When did values and morality become the price that must be paid?
When did twisted words and circumstance bind the books by which we played?
Did not deities brand pioneers the saviours of our souls?
See I can script my faith to paper 'cause I can stand to watch it burn

(CHORUS)
Is this our arraignment?
Did we take it a step too far?
Were we born to be tried as delinquents?
And our perjury to be committed in vain?

(Verse 2a)
And while the "circus freaks" of democracy are saluted by the left
A fratelity, a brotherhood, proves to be the final test
And the fucking manifesto to which you swore your every word
Bares the desicrated flag of your post-election world

(2b)
Now that's not to say we have all the diplomatic answers
And we may be feeble in our words but we don't shy from taking chances
A great man once spoke of a dream he had one night
But what's a great man with his words had no one agreed to fight?

(CHORUS)
So come on, is this our arraignment?
Did we take it a step too far?
Were we born to be tried as delinquents?
And our perjury to be committed in vain?

(Bridge)
So let us wait for our verdict to fall
Yes we can fade and succumb to their drawl

(Interlude)
Or we can cultivate our wounds and prepare for the dawn
So when beggars become choosers of their own civil laws
Only then will we rest, when we can't be out-drawn
And we'll bask in the wake of our allabis and victory calls

(Instrumental section)

(Verse 3b)
So let's become the all-in hand and call their final bluff
Delegate between masses and the fores within the rough
When did deities brand pioneers the saviours of our souls?
See I've scribed my faith to paper and, like me, it's full of holes

(Final Chorus x 2)
So let go, forget the arraignment
And let's take it a step too far
Let's be caught, red handed, as thinkers
And let their perjury ring out through the age

Excellent Protest lyrics.

Billy Bragg himself would be proud.

Especially like
'A great man once spoke of a dream he had one night
But what's a great man with his words had no one agreed to fight?'

So true it makes me ANGRY! >:(

Wow, this is very hard-hitting and to the point! I particularly like the use of questions, works really well.
