Magic On A Saturday Night
Allan Kilgour (c) 2012
=================

Its been a  long hard week should be making some zzz’s
but the  bass drums been a banging like a chimpanzee’s
tossin and turning with a party goin on all  right
So I  get myself up and I head downstairs
read the riot act but no-one cares
You know you gunna love it when there’s
 magic on a Saturday  night

so I  slip right in grab myself a jar
with the  noise they’re makin’ sleep wont go far
tossin and turning with a party goin on all  right
I  find myself dancing with a barefoot lady
she looked red hot and a little bit shady
You know you gunna love it when there’s
 magic on a Saturday  night

chorus

Saturday  Night  she put a spell on me
Sunday morning  she set me free
What a weekend  and that was that
Ohh What magic  I pulled the Rabbit from the hat

Its been a  long hard party should be heading back home
but theres  a girl on guitar and guy on trombone
makin’ great music and swingin it all night  long
So I’m  making dance moves I never knew I had
next thing you know shady’s not so bad
You know you gunna love it when there’s
 magic on a Saturday  night

so I  take her by the hand and we climb the stairs
no one’s  looking cause no one cares
tossin and turning making love just  right
I  wake in the morning and shady’s gone
she looked red hot and a little bit wrong
You know you gunna love it when there’s
 magic on a Saturday  night

repeat chorus

repeat verse 1

Hi Allan,

Loved the chorus effect on the guitar, really liked the solo and as one other member highlighted the sing a long feel. Also really liked the vibrato in your vocals.

I wouldn't really change much at all but possibly harmonies on the backing vocals around the 1.40 mark, great song though

Christy :)

I think this achieves exactly what you wanted it to. Keeps on moving and as is just good fun - Like it lots, a kind Status Quo meets the Beach Boys ish type feel and the guitar solo is Parfett esq rocking all over the world. Fun - enjoyed thanks for posting.

PS your voice got more confident about 30 seconds in and it really lifted this production lots. BTB
not really good at anything - but as long as I am breathing I will keep on trying

Agreed. The first few lines felt a little uncomfortable. Nice beyond this though.

Cool feel to this one, a real up beat track that is happy to be what it is, I enjoyed the whole thing. I like the way the lyrics move so comfortably around the melody. I feel it could easily fit in a few more backing vocals here and there, but that could detract from the simple charm.

Cheers for sharing :)

Good song. This knows exactly what it wants to be. It's nice to have no pretention or deep philosophical connotations - just a catchy simple song that tells a story.

The vocals get better throughout the song and some of the vibratos remind me of Roy Orbison. Very cool!

I was getting a Beatles vibe - almost sounds like Sir Paul McCarthey himself, with George and John on backing vocals. I love it! Catchy.

Very 70's - made me think of 'Smokey' ...
I think 'Set me free' and 'Spell on me' are too hackneyed even in a sing-along song in 2012. the rest of the lyrics work for what it is though. Not my bag I've got to say - but it hangs together.
Youth & enthusiasm are no match for age and treachery.
