Hi guys, I've had a bit of a creative spell lately and here is another of my songs. This was intended as a basic demo, then my daughter Tabitha decided to do some backing vocals while I was recording and I've just kept it that way. She is only 7 months old but I think her timing is spot on. I kind of think it needs to stay in its raw state now because of her unplanned contribution, and maybe just stick it at the end of the album as a bonus track. Here it is (ps. the soundcloud site makes it sound a little bit like its under water??)

http://soundcloud.com/habitatsongs/tabitha-feat-tabitha

I never really knew How it would feel
Nothing ever felt so surreal
I never understood
I thought I never would
But then they put her wrapped up in my arms

A little face staring back at me
A creature like nothing I've ever seen
Swaddled up so tight
Eyes they were so bright
When they put her wrapped up in my arms
When they put her wrapped up in my arms

Tabitha What have you done
You melted me and made me
All in one
Out of nothing I can see
you Staring back at me
Tabitha what have you done

You have a real gift for writing a melody which seems to have always been there and which fits perfectly with your lyrics. It's like you're talking to me but you're actually singing. I don't know if that makes sense  :-\

I love this and I loved your last song "Grow Up Slow". Your children seem to be a rich source of inspiration to you.

Pretty amazing stuff. If you make an album, I'll buy it.

Hey habiTat,

So that explains the capital T in the middle of your name so! Nice song, very easy to listen to vocals. Reminded me a bit of Julia by John Lennon, very honest sounding and simple.

Carried away? I'm right there with ya lol.

You've got a really sweet song here man. Really sincere. Tabitha really does bring that extra lightheartedness that draws the ear. Thanks man, quite enjoyed that.

It is incredible how much more intense the song gets when the "backing vocals" kick in

If ever there was a perfect example of how to "connect" a performance to a song then this is it!

I thought the song was "ok" when it started - although I must be honest and found it a little "cheesey"

However, when the baby cried, and you had that little giggle in your voice, it all clicked in to place and sounded great

Overall great stuff and you must be well chuffed to caught that on tape - something to bring out on her 18th birthday!

Timing is everything ;)

tabitHa had impecable timing and gave the song a great lift. I found the song strongest in the verse, as it should be. The melody here lifted a notch and of course with tabitHa bringing it home how could it not end up an enjoyable listen. Thanks for sharing.

I like the melody and, although I think the lyrics are a maybe a bit rhyming dictionary for my taste, it works really well as a simple heart felt song. It's like a well written country song in that way.

Good song! I especially like that Tabitha isn't forced into the recording like many proud parents would do. She actually fills a lead guitar role here and is timed just right throughout the song. Nice one!

It felt really intimate and any of us lucky enough to be parents can connect with the heart felt feelings. And T herself is bloody star. Really enjoyed listening to this. By co incidence I am just trying to finish something off about my sons so hope you won't think I am copying too much if I post in the next week or two? I have been working on it while honest!!

Thanks for sharing.
