Yikes.

I thought this had to be a windup. A fake. So I looked up the released version

I can't tell for certain, but it would seem that it could well be the real thing; the actual unprocessed vocal take! And this is no mere autotuning. In certain places she is over a semitone flat, which would have required manual pitch correction to a close enough tone pre-autotuning, or simply full on vocoding.

Regardless, the song is pathetic dross about making it. Lyrically asinine and musically limp. And the autotuned final vocal is still painful to listen to due the constant sweeping being used to get her in tune.

I really hope the market rebels against AutoTune soon. It makes radio unlistenable at times.

This is the flaccid penis of the mainstream music industry slapping us in the face. The sad part is that some people are just sitting back and taking it...

And it seems that when it's not our faces being slapped it's dead horses instead...

not sure which version i prefer ? its a toss up

the citreon advert that preceded it was ace tho.

just shows that theres no point in trying to impress 'the industry', with original music, its irrelavant to them, write your own stuff your own way..
i may not believe this tomorrow...

I don't think this is real at all - there are a load things of like this on youtube.
With Melodyne, you can go into a finished mix and alter one instrument or voice.
There are countless things about where people have gone into stuff like Bohemian Rhapsody etc and made the guitar solo hideously out of tune etc.
However I don't think this is even done like that - it's just someone else.
The phrasing isn't identical (check the word 'remember') - and the 'bad' version doesn't even sound like an expensive studio mic to me.
I do think the official version is autotuned but I very much doubt she's that bad... let's not get carried away on a wave of hate.

Here she is singing live acoustically and you can hear the room ambience - a bit thin, and  not great but not awful at all and with a decent schooled vibrato- a pretty genuine representation of her actual ability:

Yeah, agreed now estreet. I had a closer listen.

Its kinda sad that someone had gone out of there way to create something purely as an attack. The internet can be a nasty attack.

Regardless: The released version is still dire, with a lot of vocal editing. This was enough to make me think that the unprocessed version had a shot at being real. Her voice lacks soul, energy, depth, well...most any redeeming features really. But we clearly aren't her target audience  ;D

Yup. She can actually sing, not great, but not that bad either.
Crap annoying songs, but i do feel sorry for her. She's just a kid being used with no regard to how it affects her personal life.

I first saw 'Clapton Shreds' about 3 or 4 years ago. I don't think I've laughed as much since as I did then. At least half of the people I sent it to didn't understand what was happening and replied saying things like 'wow - he's lost it' lol. Sadly though, there is one of Jimmy Page where he's actually playing like that.

The Clapton shred is hilarious and I also remember seeing it around 4 years ago and absolutely crying with laughter

It is such a genius idea!
